We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow Senior Developer with specialized expertise in IT Operations Management (ITOM) Discovery and IT Asset Management (ITAM) to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement ServiceNow solutions to enhance visibility, automation, and management of IT infrastructure and assets. This role requires deep technical proficiency, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Implementation:
- Configure and customize ServiceNow ITOM Discovery to identify, map, and maintain Configuration Items (CIs) across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Implement and optimize ITAM modules, including Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM), to automate the end-to-end asset lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain ServiceNow Service Mapping to define business services and troubleshoot discovery processes.
CMDB Management:
- Enhance and manage the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure data integrity, alignment with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), and integration with ITAM/ITOM processes.
- Utilize Discovery to populate and update CMDB with accurate infrastructure and application data.
Integration & Automation:
- Integrate ServiceNow with third-party systems using REST, SOAP, Integration Hub, and other APIs to support ITOM and ITAM workflows.
- Develop custom workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and script includes to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Optimization:
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Discovery, Event Management, and CMDB data quality.
- Optimize discovery patterns, schedules, and credential management to ensure comprehensive infrastructure visibility.
Agile Development & Leadership:
- Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks to deliver scalable solutions, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Lead and mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance on ITOM/ITAM best practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT operations teams, and process owners to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Conduct discovery workshops to refine user stories and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Document configurations, customizations, and integrations comprehensively.
- Ensure solutions adhere to ITIL best practices, organizational policies, and compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, license management).
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, with at least 3 years focused on ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management) and ITAM (SAM, HAM).
- Proven experience implementing and managing ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB in enterprise environments.
- Strong background in integrating ServiceNow with external systems using REST, SOAP, and Web Services.
Certifications (Required):
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Two ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) (or ability to obtain within first six months)
Certifications (Preferred):
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - ITOM (CIS-ITOM)
- ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certification
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, and ServiceNow scripting (e.g., Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts).
- Expertise in ServiceNow ITOM suite, including Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management.
- Deep understanding of CMDB architecture, CI relationships, and CSDM.
- Experience with ITAM modules, including license management, asset tracking, and procurement integration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud discovery tools.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow Agile Development).
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to debug complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor teams, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of network protocols, MID Server setup, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
