Job Summary

Provides leadership and support to ensure the corporate IT network infrastructure remains secure, available, and reliable. In this role, the senior network administrator is ultimately responsible for managing the use of networks and provides a high-level overview of information technology needs while working closely with other team members that maintain computer networks, monitors network availability, and conducts audits to enhance security and reliability. The position reports to the Vice President of Technology Management.

Primary Duties

  • Develop and maintain the backend network infrastructure to include servers, switches, routers, cabling and UPS backup systems.

  • Maintain system integrity through active monitoring of error logs and user-reported network issues. The senior network administrator conducts regular audits to ensure that the systems meet expectations for performance, security, and availability.

  • Improve systems performance through developing and deploying performance enhancing measures throughout the network. Responsible to develop proposals for IT infrastructure improvements.

  • Manage connectivity between sites to ensure optimal performance to include working with all ISPs to monitor and analyze connectivity, bandwidth use and data usage trends.

  • Responsible for managing backups for all the systems across the network. Oversees and provides reports for the quarterly disaster recovery exercises.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installation of all patches, service packs, hot fixes, and upgrades to all network servers. Responsible for installation, testing and maintenance of all hardware and software on all network servers.

  • Assist with CMMC review, comprehensive analysis, and implementation, certifying applicable security measures are applied to corporate wide infrastructure.

  • Oversee updates (Microsoft, Antivirus) to all workstations, laptops and servers Manage the monitoring of all server event logs daily. Oversee system backups to include verification of backups and testing file restoration and disaster recovery procedures routinely.

  • Manage all network connectivity to include, VPN (tunneling and Remote Desktop connections). Make recommendations to improve infrastructure, where needed.

  • Develop project plans for needed changes to infrastructure.

  • Monitor server event logs daily. Coordinate the implementation of new departmental software, as needed. Design, specify, configure, install, test, and maintain corporate network infrastructure to include all servers, routers, bridges, switches, modems, cabling and Internet service providers.

  • Respond to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network. Act as the primary escalation point from tier 2 support technicians Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Assist with development of system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.

  • Negotiate contracts with and coordinate activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors.

  • Collect and analyze network and memory utilization statistics. Manage and routinely test backups and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Engage in ongoing training to upgrade skills and knowledge of new technologies and security issues.

  • Local and out of state travel required.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or comparable combination of education and experience required.

  • 8-10 years' experience required.

  • A+ certification and MCSE certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills as well as superb customer service skills required.

  • Seven years of successful experience with the design, specification, installation, and support of local and wide area computer networks required.

  • Working knowledge of Windows 2012/2019 Servers, CISCO routers and switches, VMware, Office365, Microsoft Office, Outlook/Exchange, VPN, Terminal Services, PC, and printer setup & troubleshooting, and previous network management support experience.

  • Working knowledge of all applicable technologies in use at ServiceSource and affiliates. Site visits to all affiliates required.
