Resident Engineer

The R&D Resident Engineer is based in the BRP Juarez assembly plant and is the main communication channel between R&D and Operations departments (Quality, Industrial & Mechanical Engineering, Production and Planning). His main role is to lead problem solving activities and ensure proper communication and follow-up on all product related issues from the assembly line.

The position is for Juarez 1 - ATV factory. As part of the team, you might need to support the other sites.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Participate in the evaluation and development of new processes, materials & suppliers with the Product Engineering and Procurement Teams;

  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, makes decisions on the production floor regarding a deviation or interpretation of the engineering parts & assembly drawings;

  • Participate in engineering/assembly projects to increase RFT index;

  • Continuously seek for best practices and potential projects requesting Engineering changes in the part's design that would aid the assembly process and product overall quality;

  • Participate in New Tool design validating that new tooling will comply with engineering specifications and provide a feedback to improve them;

  • Evaluate feasibility for ECN at production line and ease the implementation of them;

  • Communicate on a regular basis with Valcourt engineers and technicians to maintain product knowledge;

  • Perform a thorough analysis of issues to allow an effective problem resolution;

  • Participate, perform and/or lead any testing required during an investigation;

  • Document and follow-up issues assigned to R&D using DMAAC tool;

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in product development;

  • Articulate and professional communication skills; bilingualism essential;

  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed and possess strong organizational skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

  • Strong teamwork skills with ability to work with minimal supervision;

  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools considered an asset
