Basic Function

This position supervises the unit operators to ensure the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations at Bayport PO Plant. The supervisor and shift team ensure optimum operating conditions are maintained to load on spec products and ensure regulatory parameters are followed. The supervisor is responsible for the performance and development of a shift of up to 15 operators. The shift supervisor is part of the Incident Command structure and has authority / responsibility to shut down any or all equipment to meet any applicable emergency situation.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Accountable for developing a high performing shift team and developing individual operators skills and abilities, including discipline when appropriate.
* Works with unit specialist, process engineers, and manager to ensure operations of the unit meet the business and site objectives.
* Maintains knowledge of Unit procedures, equipment, and personnel to meet the objectives of the area including operations, safety, environmental, maintenance, and quality performance.
* Interfaces with the maintenance personnel on maintenance execution and turnarounds.
* Interfaces with the project engineering and construction personnel to manage projects in the area.
* Reports, investigates, and initiates corrective actions in the unit. Actively troubleshoots problems and develops plans to resolve issues.
* Works with other Shift Supervisors to train and evaluate operator performance. Ensures that policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are followed.
* Accountability for unit housekeeping and operating discipline rounds.
* Accountable for ensuring that site operations comply with union contractual requirements.

Min. Qualifications

* Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

* Minimum of 8 years of Manufacturing plant operations experience with good knowledge of the relevant safety hazards of the process.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with employees and all departments within LyondellBasell. Leadership, coaching and supervision skills are required. Basic computer and technical skills are required.

* The incumbent must have sound knowledge of process equipment operation and of basic principles of process chemistry.

* The position requires good knowledge of Company policies, plant operating procedures, basic maintenance procedures, health, safety and environmental regulations and employee policies and practices.

* The position requires good organizational skills with a proven ability to interface effectively with individuals from all departments within Manufacturing.

* The individual should work well in a team atmosphere and show ability to develop and lead teams.
