CCI is looking for an Assistant Director of Concrete Operations in our Livonia, Michigan region. This role oversees all field operations for the Concrete Division. Provides oversight and leadership of safety training, operations, scheduling, quality, and budget for concrete operations.

What You Will Do:

As Assistant Director of Concrete Operations, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:



  • Ensures safety measures and accountability are a top priority for the entire division.
  • Drives implementation and achievement of the company's strategic plan goals.
  • Reviews division specific progress for strategic plan goals from month to month and year to year for sales, revenue, gross profit, and man hours.
  • Oversees the flatwork and vertical operations for quality and productivity.
  • Coordinates constructability reviews with procurement; responsible for quality assurance and quality control.
  • Provides pre-construction planning leadership with client team and CCI project team.
  • Assists with personnel functions for the division including, but not limited to, time tracking, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, performance reviews, and discipline of division employees.
  • Initiates and encourages team growth; mentors and develops subordinates.
  • Actively manages field work, including durations and scheduling.
  • Assists estimators to bid on projects for constructability, logistics, equipment selection and durations.
  • Assists with assignment of superintendents and trade foremen with overall responsibility for all employees in the division.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with clients, vendors, employees, and anyone encountered through the course of employment. Responds appropriately and timely to all communications.
  • Serves and staffs a variety of internal and external committees to support programs and the industry. Remains actively engaged in relevant industry associations.
  • Shares resources with other divisions when needed.
  • Supports procurement of suppliers and subcontractors (formwork, rebar, cranes, etc.).
  • Monitors and assists Project Managers with analyzing cost, production, manpower loading, equipment and rental resources, and cost to complete for WIP reviews.
  • Foresees potential issues and plans accordingly. Assists with recovery plans, corrective action plans, and/or problem solving.
  • Stays current with changes and back charges on behalf of CCI.
  • Reviews projects with Project Team at completion and provides feedback to estimating.
  • Actively manages overhead for the division (100% job cost for all field employees and superintendents).
  • Contributes to business development and new client engagements.
  • Works with the layout team to create formwork drawings for the field.
  • Complies with federal and state regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Completes assigned and required training for this role.


What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction related discipline.
  • Ten(10) or more years of experience in construction with at least five(5) years of experience in leadership roles.
  • -or- Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.


Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:



  • Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or other related job field.
  • Fifteen(15) or more years of relevant work experience in construction with at least ten(10) years of experience in leadership roles.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: The job will be conducted in a temperature controlled professional office environment, with moderate noise. The role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. On jobsite visits, the position is exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats, safety glasses, and high visibility clothing). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.

Expected Hours of Work Full time position. This position regularly requires flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events. Occasional weekend work and extended hours are required.

Travel Must have reliable transportation. Travel to and from the construction site is required. Most of the travel will be local, but some long distance and overnight travel may be required.
