POSITION SUMMARY

The Generalist performs some mechanical services on automotive vehicles in Los Angeles County Garage.




  • Pay Range: $19.50 - $21.00 hourly



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Check and maintain automotive fluids levels in pool vehicles such as gas, oil, water and air in tires
  • Wash automobiles, trucks and vans daily that are assigned to the pool coordinator prior to renting
  • Assist the Detail Technician with washing and polishing of customer's vehicles and remove decals when required
  • Body shop prepping
  • Brush, clean and vacuum pool and customer vehicles interiors when required
  • Jump-start vehicles when needed
  • Parking vehicles in Los Angeles County Sheriff Garages, making maximum use of available space
  • Picking up and delivering vehicles to Centerra Integrated Fleet from vendors as required
  • Stripping vehicles, removing parts for cannibalization
  • Removing vehicles from Centerra Integrated Fleet service drive and parking repaired vehicles in appropriate locations
  • Road-testing vehicles on public streets and highways when required
  • Ensure the facility has sufficient supplies on hand to fulfill job duties
  • Keep work tools and equipment in clean and working condition
  • Ensure that company standards of cleanliness and appearance are met or exceeded in offices, restrooms, hallways and company units and any interior/exterior areas assigned to Centerra Integrated Fleet
  • Ensure that the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing of daily work duties at your respective locations comply with safety standards
  • Perform all work using safe work practices and in accordance with policy
  • Must be able to drive to all 26 repair facilities
  • Mount and balance tires; deliver tires and conduct tire inventory
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have a valid CA Driver's License
  • Current automotive knowledge required
  • Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically based in a busy service center/maintenance garage environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are in two shifts, Monday-Friday 6:30 am to 4:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
