As a Director - R&D IT you will ill serve as an enterprise leader and a key SME responsible for the successful implementation of digital PLM tools, methodology and processes that integrate hardware, software, electronics, and other product design attributes. You will be trusted to provide leadership, overall technical direction to the team, and guidance to the customer base on the application of tools and best practice methodology within Alcon R&D IT. You will partner extensively with R&D, IT, Manufacturing, Quality, and many other functions to design and implement solutions that serve to streamline the way we work - including but not limited to technical development, validation, technology transfer, and ongoing lifecycle management / support for our products at Fort Worth, TX. In this role a typical day will include:

  • Owning the entire solution delivered to the business including work done by other team members.

  • Leading the project team and customers (including those beyond the borders of R&D) to deliver project goals and in accordance with existing corporate standards.

  • Influencing and leading the evolution of business processes that support the application of PLM tools and methodology.

  • Partner with other leaders and capabilities to maximize synergies across digital platforms.

  • Coordinating all aspects of the technical project (including solution definition, scope, timelines, budget, change leadership, and communication plans).

  • Ensuring that industry and Alcon best practices are followed and that the functional specifications are successfully developed, implemented, and documented

  • Crafting and maintaining estimates for project budgets, detailed project plans, and enforcement of scope for the project.

  • Proven experience in software development with C, C++, .NET, Java, and JavaScript.

  • Extensive knowledge of PLM, ALM, MBSE, ERP, CAD, CAM, and IoT.

  • Hands-on experience with Siemens Teamcenter for PLM, MBSE, and QMS.

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms, specifically AWS and Azure Cloud services.

  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Visio, Power BI, and SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Proven strong leadership skills & the ability to interact with and influence others

  • Experience in requirements gathering, project definition and delivering digital capabilities / services

  • Digital strategy and infrastructure

  • Proven ability to perform independently as well as to get things done through others

  • Highly developed diplomatic negotiation and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Product Development for Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals (or similar regulated industry)

  • Strong domain knowledge in systems engineering, bill of materials (BOM) management, configuration control, and compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience

  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
