Please note that this position is based in Princeton, NJ. Acadia's hybrid model requires this role to work in our office on average three days per week.

The Executive Director, Commercial Strategic Insights and Performance - Neuroscience at Acadia will lead a high-impact team responsible for delivering actionable insights across corporate performance, market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and customer trends. This role plays a critical part in guiding the Neuroscience franchise through data-driven forecasting, performance analytics, and strategic planning to support both internal decision-making and external stakeholder communications, including the board and investors.

This player-coach position reports to the VP of Commercial Insights, Analytics, and Operations and combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution. The Executive Director will oversee key functional areas including global insights, market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and performance analytics across in-line products, pipeline assets, and business development opportunities.

Success in this role requires deep expertise in biopharma commercialization, a strong track record of cross-functional leadership, and the ability to drive complex analyses aligned with corporate objectives. This position sets long-term strategic direction, develops evaluation criteria for major initiatives, and operates with a high degree of autonomy, where decisions will significantly impact both functional success and the broader organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Insights and Performance Analytics



  • Oversee and develop key national commercial insight function that allows for comprehensive synthesizes and interpretation of key learnings from historical performance, market research findings, 3rd party market data, quantitative analysis, and competitive intelligence to enable Acadia to achieve its ambition of elevating the lives our patients through our medicines
  • Establish best in-class forecasting centers of excellence that uses proven methodologies and modeling techniques that integrates key market dynamics, customers, and patients insights with future brand initiatives to support establishing realistic product performance expectations the goals for both pipeline and in-line products
  • Responsible for developing robust national analytics and reporting functional area that is accountable for establishing KPIs, developing and executing on analytics plans using sound techniques/approaches, along with deploying analytical tools/solutions/platforms to disseminate performance insights across the organization.
  • Develop, operationalize, and enhance the competitive intelligence functional area to efficiently gather and disseminate insights about alternative treatment choices in-development and/or are currently marketed within the NS marketplace.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Management



  • Orchestrate and establish high functioning collaboration partnerships/teams with NS sales and marketing teams to help define strategies, tactics and the annual brand planning process by serving as the key expert on neuro science insights, national performance, analytics, and forecasting
  • Collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups including sales, marketing, market access, patient service/trade distribution, finance, and tech ops to deliver comprehensive and accurate brand level forecasts, long range plans, and guidance to the organization
  • Partner with senior leadership and the new product planning group to support the robust assessment and evaluations needed to formulate and define overall product potential and go-to-market strategies for late stage pipeline products and BD opportunities
  • Partner with ELT, finance and the brand franchise leads to support quarterly Board of Directors meetings, quarterly earnings calls, and investor relations group.
  • Lead and coordinate with the IT group in the development and administration of systems/platforms, internal data infrastructure, acquisition of commercial data sets, establishing key metrics to support the insights and performance group.


Leadership



  • Develop a highly talented, proficient, responsive, and dedicated team that is responsible for delivering accurate market assessment, customer/patient insights, performance evaluations, and forward guidance by leading the market research, forecasting, national performance analytics, and competitive intelligence areas,
  • Develop and communicate vision and strategy for the NS insights and performance group, by developing capabilities, establishing processes, and deploying resources necessary to help the group excel in achieving its goals
  • Attract, retain, and develop individual team members within the insights/performance group to reach their full potential
  • Align efforts within your team by defining collaboration process, minimizing silos, establishing clear communication lines, and ensuring a healthy team culture
  • Be accountable for project prioritization, overall project management and budgets to ensure the effective implementation of priority initiatives and tactics

  • Seek opportunities to streamline and improve business operations and technical capabilities of the organization while identifying opportunities to innovate and strengthen performance
  • Maintain an exceptional level of consistency, quality and accuracy across projects and deliverables


Education/Experience/Skills



  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field; MS/MBA a plus. Should have 15+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of progressively responsible positions. 8+ years of experience in developing insights across various analytics channels that influence brand strategy. 8+ years of people management experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Proven success in a leadership position with the ability and motivation to coach others
  • Comprehensive understanding of analytics and insights best practices across the pharmaceutical industry
  • Expertise in creating and implementing business plans that align with the organization's strategy
  • Proficiency in managing and optimizing vendor relationships
  • Proven experience in various analytical and forecasting methodologies that leverages historical product demand, primary and secondary research insights along with team inputs to design and build accurate forecasting models using MS Excel and/or other forecasting applications.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated abilities to synthesize information into insights, along with the ability to think creatively and strategically to solve and answer key business questions/problems.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in market research/insight development including leveraging the latest methodologies and techniques for HCPs, Patients/Caregivers and Payers to conduct Market Landscape Assessments, Patient Journeys, TPP assessments, Lifecycle Management, Disease Awareness, Brand Tracking (ATU), Segmentation, Positioning, Messaging Evaluation, Concept Testing, Pricing/Reimbursement and demand research initiatives
  • Experience in administering the competitive intelligence functional area and projects
  • Experience with supporting new product planning and/or business development initiatives, including market/product assessments, product valuations and supporting the development of the go-to-market strategic commercialization framework.
  • Strong negotiation skills with business partners and the ability to influence senior-level leaders on matters of significance to the organization
  • Adept at creating and communicating a clear vision to team members, effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional and organizational goals
  • Experience in developing teams to create end-to-end advanced analytics solutions and applications
  • Strategic thinker at the executive level, capable of implementing change, incorporating innovation, and executing strategies throughout all levels of the organization
  • Skilled in clearly explaining and discussing complex systems and analytical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Must be able to travel domestically and even internationally up to 25%.

Physical Requirements

This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and the use of hands for handling or operating equipment. The employee may also need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and maintain visual, verbal, and auditory communication in a standard office environment and while working independently from remote locations. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to travel independently overnight and/or work after hours as required by travel schedules or business needs.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location.
