POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Specialist functions within the Developmental & Rehab Services department as a lead clinician, serving as the clinical subject matter expert in best practices for their specialty area within the service line. Works with the Service Line Director and Rehab Regional Manager to provide clinical support for Service Line. Integral to the implementation of departmental goals, educational programs, documentation optimization, and clinical initiatives. Performs all the duties of a rehab therapist or audiologist in addition to the following key accountabilities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:




  1. Supports Service line with the development of clinical standards of care, preferred practice patterns, and protocols utilizing evidence-based practice to ensure consistent quality care for specialty area within service line.
  2. Trains and mentors clinicians, students, residents, and interns, serving as the elite preceptor for specialty area to promote quality and excellence of care
  3. Assists Service line with coordination of clinical education activities and professional development, including individual training plans to expand peer competency in clinical specialty area for treatment, education, advocacy, and research
  4. Performs peer review and clinical documentation audits identifying strengths and areas of improvement to ensure compliance with professional and compliance standards
  5. Promotes improvement in clinical service to benefit patient care, by supporting the implementation of quality improvement activities as identified by service line leadership
  6. Performs assessment and treatment of patients with impairment, functional limitation, and disability or other health-related conditions to obtain their maximum level of function
  7. Practices family-centered care by working in partnership with caregivers and patients to encourage and empower their active participation in the care plan
  8. Completes accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with professional and compliance standards to best reflect the patient's status and needs, support revenue cycle and facilitate communication for continuity of care
  9. Demonstrates responsible actions and initiative to positively impact patient access to care and contribute to the department's financial performance
  10. Develops and/or implements clinical activities which improve or expand audiology or therapy services, within the department and/or hospital system, to benefit patient care
  11. Provides supervision of audiology or therapist assistant(s) for provision and delivery of service that is safe, effective, and efficient in accordance to department, state, and professional standards



QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Education: Completion of a Bachelor of Science, Master's Degree, or Doctorate (in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Audiology, or Speech Language Pathology) from an accredited academic program
  • Relevant Experience: 5 years of clinical experience
  • Preferred Experience: Board certification or advanced certification in clinical area (if applicable)
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensure to practice in area of clinical degree in the state of Florida
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to travel within the Johns Hopkins All Children's Health System
  • Current Florida drivers license with clean driving record
  • Other qualifications



Salary Range: Minimum 40.18 per hour - Maximum 64.28 per hour.

Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
