The Division of Enrollment Management at Rutgers University-New Brunswick (
EMNB) is comprised of eight student-facing and administrative units: Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of the Registrar, and the One Stop Student Services Center, as well as business, information technology, and strategy and analytics administrative teams. The division employs over 100 full-time staff and an additional 200+ student employees to fulfill its mission. Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Financial Aid Officer for the Office Financial Aid NB. This position reports to the Assistant Manager of Financial Aid - New Brunswick.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of applications for financial assistance in accordance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
- Evaluates documents using verification procedures and constructs financial aid packages for applicants.
- Provides individual counseling to students and families on all aspects of the financial aid process including proper completion of application and other forms, loan options, budget planning, debt management and the overall awarding process.
- Answers students' questions and disseminates accurate information via one-on-one sessions, telephone and written communications.
- Serves as a representative of the university at various outreach activities such as high school nights, university open house, orientation, and financial aid workshops.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus a minimum of two years' experience in student financial aid that demonstrates knowledge, understanding and competency administering federal financial assistance programs; and program counseling and outreach.

- Ability to meet expectations in a fast paced and dynamic customer-oriented environment with flexibility to accommodate adjusting priorities.
- Good coordination, organization, facilitation, research, mathematical, statistical, and program report analysis skills.

- Effective counseling skills.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience working with and knowledge of state aid, NJFAMS, COD, NSLDS, ELM, IMS, SRDB, OFA/FSA websites.
- Experience leading and/or providing work direction, training and/or technical assistance to lower-level permanent employees, and/or temporary, student and/or consultant employees.

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
