Job Summary

The Material Handler position is responsible for the process of moving and distributing materials. This position may be required to unpack material, count, label, store, weigh, or measure items of incoming shipments. You will also be responsible for performing these duties while engaging in safe acts and maintaining a safe work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Not only a material handler must be a multi-skilled and well-trained person

* Responsible for making the rounds and supplying parts to all production workers who need them

* When a changeover is needed on a machine or on a production line, assist in the changeover making it as fast and smooth as possible

* Provide tools and materials to the production line

* Provide any additional help needed to maintain Standard Work and keep the production flow moving

* Meet standards of safety and 5S

* Promote the use and applications of Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement tools as part of the culture

* Be compliant with all the rules of conduct and attendance per company handbook

* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

* Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications/Training:

* Ability to read, write comprehend and verbally communicate simple instruction

* Some knowledge of Excel, Word

* Ability to understand two-bin systems

* Ability to in a courteous and professional manner with the public and employees

* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to read, write comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English

* Must be able to prioritize work

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English

* Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices

* Familiar with various tools; drills, screw gun, table saw, band saw and router

* Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards

* Ability to recognize the quality expected and be able to reproduce it

Education and Experience:

* Five+ years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment

* The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40#'s

* Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding

* Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

* Ability to work with arms above head.

* Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions (must wear PPE)

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

Production Floor

Personal Protective Equipment Recommended and/or Required on Production Floor:

* Safety Glasses

* Earplugs

* Work gloves when needed

* Dust mask when needed

* Closed-toed shoes

* Knee pads
