JOB SUMMARY

Works under limited supervision to support UTSW commercialization efforts by jointly engaging with UTSW faculty and Office for Technology Development (OTD) personnel to evaluate and maximize the commercial impact of UTSW research.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • PhD and/or MD
  • Experience

  • Service as UTSW faculty member and previous work with technology commercialization office.

JOB DUTIES
  • Engages with Commercialization Success Partners (CSPs), while relying on scientific expertise, to ensure CSPs properly understand the science presented in disclosures, and aid them in discussions with faculty
  • Identify early research and technologies through engaging with students, postdocs and faculty
  • Attend campus events where UTSW research is presented to identify potential research and technologies and communicate the need for students, postdocs and faculty to engage with OTD
  • Evaluate technologies submitted via invention disclosures process and for competitively awarded grants sponsored by OTD
  • Support OTDs Business Development group in commercializing UT Southwestern technologies
  • Provide support to OTD in communicating with faculty and further strengthen facultys ability to navigate the commercialization landscape
  • Provide continual learning opportunities for OTD team around faculty engagement
  • Perform problem solving as needed with all parties related to and involved in maximizing faculty engagement
  • Communicate effectively and build relationships with OTD and UTSW faculty
  • Find creative solutions to challenging problems and expand individual skills and abilities while providing support to team members and projects
  • Provide timely and courteous service
  • Performs other duties as assigned
