DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position falls under the Bureau of Office Services, where you will undertake a variety of essential tasks focused on purchasing and contracting services, as well as managing purchasing cards, all while strictly following established policies, regulations, procedures, and legal requirements. Your duties will involve detailed purchasing processes, which include reviewing requisitions, creating bid documents, evaluating and awarding bids, and preparing contracts and purchase orders. It is crucial that all activities align with the Commonwealth's purchasing laws and the pertinent policies of both the Commonwealth and the department. The role requires you to communicate effectively with requisition requesters, vendors, receivers, and various personnel involved in fiscal and purchasing operations within the Commonwealth. Furthermore, you will be tasked with preparing purchasing documentation for different bureaus, ensuring that all necessary attachments are included, overseeing routing processes, and maintaining a comprehensive tracking log. After the documentation has received final approval, you will be responsible for distributing copies to the appropriate parties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
