Overview

LMI seeking a talented Data database administrator to join our team to support the transformation of complex datasets into visually compelling and actionable insights. The Database Administrator will work closely with our highly diverse team of data engineers, programmers, data scientists, and domain SMEs and will be responsible for ensuring the security, availability, and performance database infrastructure. This role requires expertise in database management, optimization, and cloud-based solutions. The DBA will work closely with developers, data scientists, and cybersecurity personnel to maintain database integrity, enhance performance, and comply client policies. This position will support the CDAO office initiative within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), driving data-driven decision-making processes and enhancing healthcare delivery through intuitive, interactive dashboards.

Responsibilities

The Database Administrator will provide support to the customer by administering databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, and utilization of data. You will work as part of a team with other contractors and government personnel in an agile environment.

The Database Administrator duties may include:

    Managing data input from various stakeholders and skilled in presenting/managing data using commercial tools.
  • Manage, optimize, and maintain the program database systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform database administration tasks including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Ensure data security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies are in place and regularly tested.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including schemas, procedures, and best practices.
  • Automate routine database tasks using SQL scripting, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Identifying structured and unstructured data (different formats/structure/file types) and develop an approach to enable rapid upload, search, and access.
  • Determine and document data sharing pathways and, if ncesseary, agreements.
  • Providing technical support and solutioning around data requirements and management.
  • Identify data consolidation opportunities across database systems, including data sharing and access stakeholder groups.
  • Interact professionally with clients/internal teams; gather requirements and document the work in a ticketing system, designing and implementing new feature additions and improvements.
  • Utilize industry standard tools such as Gitlab for code version control, project management, product requirements, and user documentation.
  • Clearly communicate with product owners to understand business concerns and demonstrate proposed solutions for acceptance.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, tact, ability to effectively interact with senior executives from Government and industry.
  • Ability to create and foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
  • Availability for occasional travel.

  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
  • Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing databases running on Windows servers.
  • Demonstrated experience synching geographically dispersed databases
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building relational or object-oriented databases with strong experience on backend processes and engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with data modeling (Logical and Physical design) and experience with designing and managing database security.
  • Demonstrated experience with using Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Demonstrated experience with security scans of databases and mitigation of vulnerabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL Server "Always On" Availability Groups.
  • Demonstrated experience with creating Windows Powershell scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing database replication (standby databases).
  • Demonstrated experience developing, documenting and implementing database backup and recovery processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience Architecting High Availability, Disaster Recovery and Failover database environment and Query Optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with databases in virtualized environments.
  • Demonstrated experience Shell scripting skills.
  • One or more database administration certifications for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and/or MySQL databases, such as Microsoft Certified database Administrator (MCDBA), Microsoft SQL Server database certification, Oracle Database Certification such as Oracle Certified Associate (OCA), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Oracle Certified Master (OCM) and/or MySQL Database Administrator.

The target salary range is-$82267.07 - $141358.99
