RFK Community Alliance is seeking a Vice President of Youth Residential Services to lead our highly regarded youth residential division with locations across the Commonwealth.

About the Opportunity

The Vice President of Youth Residential Services (YRS) provides strategic and operational leadership for a diverse portfolio of residential programs serving youth ages 12-22 across multiple sites in Massachusetts. This role ensures high-quality care, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibility, and a positive organizational culture. The VP of YRS is a key member of the senior leadership team and serves as the primary liaison with state agencies, funders, and external partners relevant to RFKCA's youth residential programming.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership , Culture & Oversight:


  • Provide steady leadership over 10+ youth residential programs (DCF, DYS) and approximately 200 staff, serving up to 100 youth across the state
  • Supervise, coach, and inspire five residential leaders, and foster empowerment and collaboration within the youth residential team
  • Ensure our work is delivered within a positive, mission-driven culture that values diversity, belonging, inclusivity, and equity


Program Management:


  • Ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory standards
  • Manage census, staffing, and program budgets
  • Monitor and control costs, including overtime and payroll
  • Lead crisis response and serve as escalation point for complex cases
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with state funders (DCF, DYS)
  • Respond to RFRs and lead new program development, as needed
  • Ensure quality and safety of physical plant in collaboration with Facilities


Strategic Initiatives:


  • Participate in state and association affinity groups such as DYS providers council, MAAPS ResEd Directors group, and DCF Directors workgroup
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, PQI, Organizational Advancement, and Facilities departments for cross-functional initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with Senior and Executive Leaders


Adventure & Specialized Programming:


  • Oversee/Supervise the organization's Adventure Program, which includes a Fly Zone ropes course, MSF dirt bike program, and outdoor and summer programming
  • Support expansion of Support & Stabilization services, including respite care


Qualifications

Required:


  • Deep commitment to RFKCA's mission and values
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in youth residential services
  • Deep knowledge of State entities (DCF, DYS and DMH) and regulations
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and complex budgets
  • Strong crisis management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering belonging.


Preferred:


  • Experience with program development
  • Experience building relationships with external stakeholders
  • Bilingual or multicultural experience a plus
