The Nursing Professional Development Specialist II applies educational and adult learning theories, principles, and innovative strategies to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate various education, orientation, training, and retention focused programs across the organization. Working without supervision, this role collaborates with inter-professional teams on the implementation of evidence-based practice to meet the needs of the organization. The NPDS II serves as a coach and mentor to healthcare team members for professional growth and development. |

Evaluates the effectiveness of education, orientation, training, and retention activities to improve learning needs in collaboration with interprofessional team members and stakeholders across the organization. Acts as a leader and collaborator to both internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies, programs, learning platforms, and opportunities for healthcare team members and students. Contributes to the development and implementation of clinical rotation opportunities for students, participating in hiring interviews and creating programs to support new hires' transition to professional practice. Develops innovative and engaging orientation, training, and education programs for team members on hire and throughout their career, including on boarding events, clinical orientation programs, and ongoing competency skill validation for optimal patient care. Leads meetings of task forces and committees by sharing knowledge of education strategies, clinical practice, evidence-based practices, trends, data, and technology. Develops team members through coaching and mentorship to staff promoting retention, professional growth and role development. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Master's Degree |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 5 years as a Registered Nurse and 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state Clinical specialty certification required within 2 years of hire BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider |
