Job Overview:

The Data Analyst support the efforts of the Quality Resource Services Department along with the Director and VP of Quality, Safety and Experience and will be responsible for empowering users with data across the institution, providing a unique blend of clinical, business, technical, and analytical expertise. The Data Analyst is embedded throughout the organization to drive strategic initiatives, improve safety & quality of care, and streamline operations. The Data Analyst combines quality & safety knowledge with data and technology to empower decision makers and believes that user-friendly, self-service, embedded analytics products can improve patient outcomes, optimize processes, and reduce costs. The team is looking for creative thinkers who are excited about joining a collaborative team to utilize data to transform RWJBH Newark Beth Israel Medical Center into a data-driven organization; one that practices data-driven decision making and utilizes data to improve the experience of our patients, families, and staff. The Data Analyst is passionate about healthcare delivery in a patient care setting. A successful candidate is articulate, analytical, and a team player who understands the power of data storytelling to drive change. The analyst enjoys coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to create solutions for improving operational and clinical decision making. The analyst learns quickly, works independently, and is relentless in overcoming technical, process, and organizational obstacles. The Data Analyst, under supervision, will actively contribute to projects and tasks with understand multiple data sources, and implement sustainable data solutions. The individual will also provide operational support for organizational data needs such as ad hoc and scheduled reporting

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Individual must possess a Bachelor s degree or equivalent
  • Master s degree in Data Science or a related field or MBA preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in analytics / business intelligence
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc)
  • Experience working as a data analyst within a healthcare setting
  • Experience with Quality & Safety improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of relational database structures
  • Knowledge of programming/query languages as required (SQL)

Essential Functions:

  • Experience with quality, safety, and experience improvement initiatives
  • Contributes to projects and data requests from beginning to end
  • Creates appropriate data solutions (dashboards, reports, business intelligence tools, etc) and data analysis for the measurement of processes and outcomes
  • Demonstrates excellent data storytelling skills through outstanding presentation and communication to share findings in an understandable and actionable manner tailored to audience and customer's needs o Experience with data visualization tools (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc) o Experience with Infographics
  • Develop and prepare scorecards, dashboards and summary reports showing high-level results and trends appropriate for different internal and external audiences. Conduct cross-validation, data cleansing and quality checks for extracted data.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to advance reporting capabilities, and improve accuracy of data.
  • Train stakeholders on how to interpret reports and data, as necessary, using the appropriate level for the intended audience
  • Team Player Collaborates teams on any issues relating to data quality, and structure of data repositories impacting analytics. Develops and maintains appropriate, current status and documentation on projects and work products.
  • Complete additional application education to provide in-depth support.
  • Provide feedback regarding project team member performance when requested
  • Initiate, lead or facilitate meetings for team or customers.
  • Manages customer expectations while prioritizing and implementing required changes in the system.
  • Participates in various organizational committees as assigned.
  • Stays current on technological aspects of the position.
  • Determine opportunities and identify solutions to improve capabilities and efficiency of reporting.
  • Quantitative and Qualitative analytical skills to perform the above functions. Ability to break down problems in workable pieces; seek guidance and propose solutions.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills (Infographics) to transfer knowledge to team and customers.
  • Strong Excel skills, ability to manipulate data, and master multiple databases.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Ability to produce reports and dashboard that meet the needs of the organization in the review and analysis of impactful data.
  • Demonstrate time management and prioritization skills in a complex environment.
  • Ability to mentor and assist others on the team.
