The Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory team works to leverage the power of science and technology to develop and implement tangible solutions to a wide range of environmental problems. The Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory seeks an Assistant or Associate Specialist with expertise in data science, ideally with applications in plastic pollution, industrial ecology, waste management, circularity, recycling, or related topics. The position will lead the identification, procurement, and harmonization of diverse data sets. The successful candidate will bring a desire and excitement to take on ambitious and challenging circular economy data questions with real-world applicability, and an enthusiasm to collaborate closely with Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory research staff and external partners. A bachelor's degree in environmental science, data science, industrial ecology, economics, materials science, engineering or related field plus having three or more years of relevant experience. OR A master's degree in environmental science, data science, industrial ecology, economics, materials science, engineering or related field. Additional qualifications

Employment at the Associate Specialist level may be considered for applicants with a master's degree or having at least 5 years of experience demonstrating expertise in a relevant area. Preferred qualifications
