The Annual Giving Manager:

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of current donors and prospects, including individuals and foundations; communicate with portfolio constituents through face-to-face relationship-building meetings and written strategies. Promotes and practices the Hospice mission and values and follows the policies and procedures of Tidewell Hospice and the Tidewell Foundation.
  • Develop solicitation strategies for donors/prospects in support of the organizations strategies to maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of mid-level donors and meets the defined minimum annual fundraising goal.
  • Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects and donors with an emphasis on donations below $10,000.
  • Develop comprehensive retention, stewardship and recognition plan for current donors, converting "occasional" donors to annual donors and annual donors to major or planned giving donors.
  • Lead the project management of the annual appeals process for the Foundation.
  • Support solicitation tracking reports on special campaigns; provide meeting support materials to fundraisers, including talking points, solicitation materials, background, and follow-up proposals.
  • Work with Foundation staff and volunteers on screening and preparing profiles of current and prospective donors; establish and refine benchmarks for department research processes.
  • Support the design and implementation of donor recognition strategies and events. Conceive of, plan for, and execute continuous on-going stewardship program.
  • Design special campaign-related events targeted at current and prospective donors.
  • Maintain timely recording of all pertinent information related to donor tracking in Raisers Edge CRM Fundraising Software.
  • Be a visible presence at Empath special events, such as receptions, major donor cultivation and public education events, and fundraisers such as the annual gala.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; at least 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Superior interpersonal communication, both oral and written, required.
  • Supervisory experience required, including oversight of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Experience and proficiency with moves management.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required.
  • Fundraising experience required and related work experience, including working with volunteers and leading committees.
  • Willing to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and requires a high level of energy and non-regular work schedules.
  • Experience and proficiency with The Raiser's Edge and all Microsoft systems including Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Ability to create and write proposals, presentations, foundation grants and donor materials including development of direct mail timelines and campaigns.
  • Requires ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments in a timely manner to complete assignments when faced with competing deadlines.
