Role

PDW is seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. Manager of Flight Operations to join our expanding Technical Programs Department. This department is responsible for all flight operations at PDW. Flight Operations includes flight operations for: Production testing, R&D, new feature/capability, regression and qualification of PDW products. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and growing the Flight Operations Department, ensuring adherence to PDW and FAA policies and support local and offsite flight testing.

Responsibilities


  • Oversee, direct and grow the flight operations team and capabilities.
  • Manage all aspects of aircraft flight to ensure safe operations, pilot initial and sustained training, process and procedures for safe operations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the PDW Flight Operation team, fostering professional development and growth.
  • Develop and ensures adherence to all applicable regulations, including FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Works with other PDW Departments to prioritize and deconflict flight needs.
  • Develops and implements flight plans, schedules, and procedures to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure Flight Operation aircraft fleet is maintained and tracked.
  • Ability to identify and resolve operational issues and make sound decisions under pressure


Requirements


  • 5+ years of demonstrated ability managing a flight operation.
  • 10+ years UAS flight experience
  • Experience in the planning and executing test for complex systems in the areas of aerospace, automotive or heavy equipment.
  • Team leadership experience and high comfort level in holding team members accountable for performance and building a healthy team culture.
  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current FAA Part 107 Certificate
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Aviation or similar desired, but not required. Relevant experience is essential.


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, and move about regularly throughout the day and lift / carry up to 25 pounds. Must have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.

Work Environment

This position may have exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and non-climate-controlled environments. May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on the environment. This is a fast-paced work environment and requires cross departmental collaboration with independent and team-based responsibilities.

ITAR Requirement

In compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) or individuals granted asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
