Job Summary
The Compensation Analyst provides compensation support and advice directly in support of Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) covering a wide range of pay programs including job structure and salary range development, base pay administration, incentive plans, executive equity programs, and pay guidance. This position serves as a collaborative team-member in the development, implementation, and maintenance of company-wide compensation programs, practices, policies, and procedures that are competitive, cost-effective, and equitable. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Compensation Analysis (50%):
- Support Spectrum Brands' overall compensation programs. Responsible for administering and monitoring global compensation programs (base and variable pay programs) to ensure alignment and support of compensation philosophy.
- Audit compensation data to ensure compliance with applicable laws and accuracy of internal systems.
- Conduct job evaluations and market analysis by reviewing the scope of responsibilities and matching Spectrum Brands' jobs appropriately to comparable survey data to determine competitiveness and appropriateness of job classification.
- Review salary actions for compliance with established guidelines and respond to questions from other HR staff and managers related to wage and hour issues.
- Aid with job descriptions, as requested, ensuring equitable and consistent use of job standards and worth.
- Perform quarterly audits and identification of changes in management levels for executives.
- Annual audit of executive compensation tables for 10-K/A disclosure.
- Assist with distribution of equity vesting files and cash dividend equivalent payout files to global payroll contacts after the annual equity vesting.
- Grant agreement acceptance tracking with equity administration vendor.
Compensation and Incentive Administration (30%):
- Support the administration and maintenance of Spectrum Brands' global incentive plans, annual merit and semi-annual market adjustment and promotion processes.
- Ensure accurate processing, reporting, and disclosure of employee compensation and incentive transactions.
- Provide timely assistance and guidance to HRBPs regarding incentives and compensation.
- Work closely with HRBPs and the HRIS/Payroll teams to maintain current and accurate compensation, incentive, and employee information.
- Regularly reviews compensation and incentive payments reports for accuracy and completeness.
Additional Duties (20%)
- Participate in global salary surveys to determine competitiveness and appropriateness of job classifications.
- Work on special projects or tasks as requested.
- Work with external compensation vendors and consultants as requested.
- Maintain data accuracy and completeness in systems.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, ideally with an emphasis in human resources, finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or accounting preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in human resources compensation, job evaluation methodology, and related analytical experience involving data analysis and modeling is required.
- Experience with global processes, job evaluation methodology, Workday, and CompAnalyst is preferred.
- Work in progress towards Certified Compensation Professional designation is preferred.
Required Skills
- Ability to maintain the high confidential nature and sensitivity to uphold human resources ethical standards.
- Solid and proven technical knowledge and experience working with MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to:
- Determine appropriate data analytic approaches and tools based on project tasks and client requirements.
- Analyze, organize, and interpret data using a logical and systematic process.
- Remove irrelevant data when conducting analytical work and developing creative solutions
- Visualize and articulate problems and concepts.
- Recognize patterns in sets of data and recommend practical models.
- Identify and recommend solutions to remove obstacles impeding project steps or task achievement.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to compensation, for example, DOL, FLSA, EEO
- Experience working on large projects across multiple departments, divisions, or parts of the business.
- Attention to detail and follow-up, deadline oriented, very strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and with employees at remote sites and/or virtual teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
- The ability to understand the parts of the business and their relationships, including the ability to understand Spectrum Brand's workforce, industry, competition, and expected future developments and challenges.
Work Environment
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. This position can be located in Middleton, WI or St Louis, MO and has a hybrid schedule of Tuesday through Thursday in the office, Monday and Friday remote.
