JOB SUMMARY The Laboratory Manager within the Insulating Materials Laboratory (various locations) is responsible for the day-to-day operations in the laboratory. This person will be representing the policies, ethics, and culture of the company in a leadership role, while supervising and coordinating activities of personnel engaged in performing tests required for quality control and routine analysis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls, and to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands with arms. The employee must sometimes lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds. Employee is sometimes required to climb and descend stairways and ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the related duties, the employee regularly works near flammable material, hazardous materials, near moving mechanical parts, and sealed low level radiation sources; and can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
