Freelance (temp/Casual) Audio, Visual Technician, Athletics

About the Job

* The Audio Visual Technician assists the full time staff in providing AV support for all athletic sporting events as well as premium events in our venues.

* AV Support includes serving as the point of contact for clients regarding technical needs prior to, or during an event, as well as troubleshooting issues that may arise.

* Working hours occur primarily during Gopher Athletics events, including nights, weekends and some holiday hours.

* Part-time, hourly student position.

* Setup premium events with necessary background music, projectors, laptops and microphones, as well as remain on site for the duration of the event to troubleshoot any issues.

* Operate audio mixing console for Gopher Athletic events in addition to other events using Gopher Athletic Venues.

* Set up press conferences with the necessary microphones, lights and speakers.

* Tear down equipment including lights, portable speakers, laptops, microphones and audio cables.

Qualifications

* Basic knowledge of computers (including powerpoint) and audio/video equipment (mixers, microphones, projectors) and the ability to set up equipment

* Customer Service Skills

* An eagerness and willingness to learn

* Audio background is preferred

Since its formation in 2012, Gopher Digital Productions has been the video production arm of the University of Minnesota athletics department, working with all 22 Golden Gopher varsity sports in the areas of live broadcast and on-demand video.

Gopher Digital Productions oversees all in-venue video board operations (Huntington Bank Stadium, Williams Arena, 3M Arena at Mariucci, Maturi Pavilion, Jane Sage Cowles Stadium and Siebert Field) as well as the Big Ten Network's StudentU presence on campus.

Additionally, GDP produces all on-demand video content for GopherSports.com, the Gophers official YouTube channel and other outlets, including nationally-recognized behind-the-scenes web series "Brick by Brick" and "Raise the Barn".

Pay Range: $28.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
