Job Summary
The Research Associate will join Professor Fan Zhang's group in the Department of Physics at The University of Texas at Dallas to conduct advanced theoretical and computational research in condensed matter physics. The focus will be on strongly interacting electron systems and machine learning-driven optoelectronic properties in two-dimensional materials. The position is full-time, beginning as early as July 1, 2025, and is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years based on performance and mutual agreement.
Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D in a related field.
Preferred Education and Experience
A Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct theoretical and computational research on strongly interacting electrons in two-dimensional materials.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to study optoelectronic properties of 2D materials.
  • Analyze and interpret data, and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate with other group members, including graduate students and faculty.
  • Present research outcomes at group meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to proposal writing and reporting related to research projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in condensed matter theory and materials physics.

Additional Information
The initial appointment will be one year, but is renewable for another one or two years, depending on the availability of funding and mutual agreement.

This position offers flexibility for remote work at the discretion of the supervisor.
