The incumbent leads Parker Lord's worldwide product compliance efforts related to chemical, environmental, product safety, health, and transportation regulations. Responsible for planning, initiating, and managing the policies, procedures and business practices required to assure compliance with domestic and international government chemical and environmental regulations as they relate to worldwide use of Parker Lord raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.

  • Accountable for technology team aspects including safety, ethics, hiring, employee development, intellectual property, team procedures, and budgeting.
  • Actively engage with Parker Lord business personnel, external customers, manufacturing teams, and other technology teams around the globe.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the global regulatory compliance team to ensure a world-class regulatory compliance program.
  • Lead project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with management to discuss project objectives, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Effectively communicate project updates and key performance indicators, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Influence others outside of department regarding projects, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Lead the development and management of technical talent within their own team, and indirectly around the globe for their specific area.
  • Interpret regulations as they apply to products, processes, operating procedures, and standard practices.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from other Parker Lord divisions, customers, governmental regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the appropriate statutes and regulations and that reporting requirements are met.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current regulatory legislation, new regulatory activity and trends. Develop programs on a proactive basis to ensure compliance with new initiatives.
  • Lead the effort in developing and maintaining systems and processes to effectively comply with global regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance policies.
  • Audit or evaluate current policies, procedures, and documentation for compliance with governmental laws and regulations along with opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Perform compliance review for approval of promotional and/or experimental materials.
  • May provide input to marketing and/or research and development on new product opportunities as a result of changes in the regulatory environment.
  • May develop and direct compliance training and monitoring programs.
  • Domestic and global travel may be required up to 10%.

Minimum Education & Work Experience:

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene or other related field and 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • 2 or more years' experience managing others preferred

Competencies:

  • Ability to lead a team of individuals in the implementation of an effective global regulatory compliance program.
  • Possess strong and effective verbal and written communication skills in frequent interactions with other professionals both internally and externally.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills using structured methodology such as DOE and other Green Belt/ DMAIC tools as necessary.
  • A strong working knowledge of major US and international chemical, environmental, safety, health and transportation related regulations.
  • Ability to travel (both domestic and international) in support of customers, LORD functions and operations, and to attend training and professional development activities.
  • Possess strong technical aptitude and knowledge base.
  • Possess fundamental computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Office Suite and SAP.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments in various stages of completion.
  • Ability to interpret and report results in detailed technical reports, quarterly updates, and oral presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing projects while adhering to established timelines.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-orientated and ensure conformance to applicable quality standards.
