Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: FPI Inspector performs immersion of castings in fluorescent penetrant per work instructions. Parts are subsequently washed, dried and developed by inspector. Interpret results under black light and accept or reject to specified FPI criteria. Write FPI reports per work instructions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Immerse castings in fluorescent penetrant per work instruction.
  2. Wash, dry and develop castings per work instructions.
  3. Interpret results under black light and accept or reject to specified FPI criteria.
  4. Writes FPI reports per work instruction.
  5. Assure castings are in a condition suitable for inspection. Assure paper work is complete and matches the casting.
  6. Ensure a consistent flow and prioritization of product through the department.
  7. Ensure calibration of equipment is current and perform system checks.
  8. Safely operate all equipment and tools. Adhere to safety rules and report safety problems.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Complete thirty-two (32) hour classroom training.
  2. 270-hour on-the-job training required.
  3. Satisfactorily pass color and vision examination.
  4. Ability to write reports.
  5. Work closely with engineering and supervisory personnel on FPI related issues.
  6. Ability to work varying shifts and overtime.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to exert up to thirty-five pounds of force to move objects. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
