Position Overview

As part of the Zelis Legal Department, the paralegal will join a larger Legal team that provides comprehensive support across various business units, personnel, products, and services. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and report to the Director of Legal Operations. Key responsibilities include assisting with various projects and initiatives to ensure smooth operations and effective task execution, administering the contract management system (CLM), and providing paralegal support, including matter management, responding to subpoenas, gathering documents, legal research, and responding to discovery requests. You will also be responsible for efficiently managing and resolving claims and disputes with clients and other stakeholders, ensuring exceptional and timely communication with relevant parties. The paralegal will work closely with fellow Legal Team members and other members of the Zelis Enterprise Legal team to provide effective, efficient, and timely legal support to the organization.

What you'll do:

  • Legal Operations: Facilitate effective interaction between the organization and the legal team by ensuring robust systems and process support. Maintain electronic databases and physical files according to established procedures and record retention policies. Adhere to departmental guidelines and SOPs. Work efficiently in internal and external systems and databases.

  • Project Management: Provide comprehensive support for ongoing projects, including intake, tracking, and management. Ensure timely responses to requests and inquiries by effectively managing deadlines. Assist with process improvements and efficiencies by crafting new processes, leading trainings, and documenting procedures. Process, track, and manage projects for Legal and other stakeholders to resolution, ensuring timely internal collaboration, follow-ups and adherence to deadlines.

  • Contract Management: Demonstrated expertise and familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to optimize the organization's use of the CLM system. Administer the CLM system, assist with troubleshooting issues, and manage vendor relationships. Proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure smooth operations.

  • General Paralegal Support: Serving as the paralegal to in-house counsel, providing support including the preparation and proceedings of cases, gathering required documentation, research, discovery, and evidence, and preparing, organizing, and electronically filing motions and pleadings.

What you'll bring to Zelis:

  • 7+ years of professional experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.

  • Paralegal certification preferred.

  • In-house experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiation.

  • Strong understanding of contract law, litigation proceedings, and legal terminology.

  • Strong interest in Legal Operations is essential.

  • Proficiency in project management, with the ability to take initiative and lead projects to completion with cross functional stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, stakeholders, and clients.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including comfortability with SharePoint and OneDrive.

  • System Management experience with the ability to become fluent in our CLM system, gaining comprehensive understanding of permissions, setup, and overall functionality, including intake to triage processes.

  • Comfortability with excel and configuring large data sets. Including developing a strategy for ways data infrastructure is categorized and accessed.

  • Strong communicator and comfortable public speaker, confident in leading trainings, creating presentation decks, and corresponding materials.

  • Collaborative team player with a professional attitude and strong sense of discretion.

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, dynamically evolving, and rapidly growing start-up environment.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture, and all our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities, if applicable, vary based on the work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.
