We are seeking an ASU & Utilities Supervisor at our Texas City, TX facilities who embodies a safety-first mentality, takes ownership for getting results and can complete daily operating and maintenance activities. The ASU & Utilities Supervisor is responsible for the supply of nitrogen and utilities to the Gulf Coast Ammonia facility which includes the operation of a new 100,000 Nm3/Hr ASU, large cooling tower, Inst. air & nitrogen system, management of 3rd party suppliers for clarified water and electrical power, and the safe discharge of wastewater to Galveston Bay.

The facility is a greenfield build for what will be the world's largest single train ammonia plant. Its assets include our largest Steam Methane Reformer at 175MMSCFD H2, a 100,000 Nm3/Hr nitrogen Air Separation Unit, a 3600 T/D Ammonia plant and Ammonia pipelines, 60 MW of steam turbine power generation and large utility system. The facility has connections to the Air Products Gulf Coast Pipeline system for Hydrogen and external parties for Natural Gas, Water and Power. The 3600 T/D Ammonia Plant is owned by a 3rd party, Gulf Coast Ammonia, with separate Environmental Permits, but is operated by Air Products as part of the integrated operation of the overall facility.

With a group of 8-9 employees, this position reports to the Operations Superintendent and works closely with Clarified Water supplier (Eastman), Electrical Power supplier (TNNP) and the ASU operators to ensure the reliable supply of Nitrogen and Utilities to the Gulf Coast Ammonia facility.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 8-9 operators and ensure sufficient experienced, trained, qualified resources are available to manage ASU and Utilities.
  • Administer Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) standards to ensure the protection of employees, contractors, the community, and the environment.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with Eastman, TNNP and Air Products Southeast Bulk Gases teams.
  • Ensure the facility is adequately integrated into the overall North American ASU operations.
  • Direct and monitor Nitrogen and Utility production to efficiently meet customer requirements.
  • Identify improvements to ASU and Utilities to enhance Air Products utilization of the assets.
  • Focus on minimization operating costs and process performance management for the facility to meet the Nitrogen and Utility needs safely, efficiently, and reliably.
  • Responsible for the establishment of the procedures, systems and processes required to supply Nitrogen and Utility's to the facility, using Air Products Management Systems as the foundation.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience leading a team in operations.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in process engineering and / or operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of systems, tools and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across broad range of operational, technical, and commercial areas.
