Under the direction of the Director of Student Life, the Assistant Director of Student Life serves as a key administrator for student conduct processes and Title IX matters related to students. This position is designated as the Deputy Title IX Official for Students and has primary responsibility for student conduct administration. The Assistant Director supervises the Coordinator of Student Support and the E-Sports Coordinator, providing leadership and direction for comprehensive student conduct operations and e-sports programming. This position plays a critical role in fostering a safe, respectful campus environment while ensuring fair and consistent application of institutional policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Title IX Responsibilities
- Serve as the Deputy Title IX Official for Students, supporting the institution's compliance with Title IX regulations
- Receive, respond to, and document reports of sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and gender-based discrimination involving students
- Conduct initial assessments of Title IX reports and coordinate appropriate interim measures
- Implement supportive measures for students involved in Title IX processes
- Assist with Title IX investigations and resolution processes as appropriate
- Maintain accurate records of all Title IX cases involving students
- Stay current on Title IX regulations and best practices
- Develop and deliver Title IX education and prevention programming for students
- Collaborate with the institution's Title IX Coordinator on policy development and implementation
Student Conduct Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the student conduct system
- Review and respond to reports of alleged student misconduct
- Adjudicate complex or sensitive student conduct cases
- Develop and implement educational sanctions that promote student learning and development
- Review and recommend updates to the Student Code of Conduct as needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential conduct records in compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations
- Produce statistical reports on student conduct trends and outcomes
- Develop assessment strategies to measure the effectiveness of the conduct process
- Train and advise conduct hearing officers
- Supervise the Coordinator of Student Support, providing guidance and oversight for conduct processes
CARE Team Intervention and Crisis Response
- Participate in the institution's CARE Team
- Assess and respond to students of concern and behavioral issues
- Develop intervention plans for students exhibiting concerning behaviors
- Consult with campus partners regarding behavioral concerns and appropriate interventions
- Assist with crisis response and emergency management involving students
- Coordinate with counseling services, campus safety, and other departments on student wellness concerns
- Implement follow-up protocols for students returning from crisis situations
Leadership and Administration
- Supervise the E-Sports Coordinator, providing strategic direction for the e-sports program
- Establish performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations for supervised staff
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for supervised staff
- Represent Student Life on institutional committees and workgroups
- Participate in strategic planning for the Student Life department
- Assist with departmental assessment and reporting
- Develop and review departmental policies and procedures
- Provide backup support to the Director of Student Life as needed
- Lead and support departmental initiatives and programs, including those aimed at student success and retention, as assigned
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices in student affairs

Minimum Qualifications
-
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of due process, student rights, and conduct procedures
- Excellent critical thinking and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply policies fairly and consistently
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, etc.)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
- Demonstrated skill in mediation and de-escalation techniques
- ASCA (Association for Student Conduct Administration) certification preferred
- Title IX investigator/coordinator training required or to be completed within first six months
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for student emergencies or campus events
- Valid driver's license
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's in Student Development, Student A?airs, or Counseling preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in student affairs, with at least 3 years focused on student conduct and/or Title IX
- Experience supervising professional staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and behavioral intervention strategies
- Experience with Title IX processes and compliance requirements
- Training in trauma-informed practices and investigative procedures
