About the Job

Summary:
This position is for computational genomics. Primary responsibilities include conducting research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and performing lab research and management duties. The hired researcher is expected to interact with and communicate well with other lab members with goals associated with the lab's research.

Essential Functions:
85% Perform research
Conduct independent research using a variety of genomic techniques, primarily including computational work and developing tools, for analyzing and visualizing data.
Participate in lab presentations and discussions.
Compile and report findings in meetings.
Communicate effectively with lab members and collaborators to facilitate research works.
Literature review and protocol development to stay updated on current research.

15% Assist with laboratory functions
Contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation.
Design and maintain the lab website.
Other basic laboratory routines, such as making purchasing orders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
BS/BA in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Statistics or similar or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis on precision and timeliness of execution. Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with genomic and/or other omics analysis.
Strong analytical skills in programming (e.g., Python, R, and Rust) and statistical analysis.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and High-performance computing environments, e.g., SLURM
Background knowledge of evolutionary biology and/or population genetics is highly desirable, but not required.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20 - $23.15 hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
