General Superintendent - Solar SUMMARY: Lead and oversee the coordination of project site work activities and supervision of on-site work team for multiple construction projects or large, complex construction projects for our Solar Operating Group. Assist in coordinating management of craft and office personnel and providing equipment facility management. This position requires the candidate to have experience from pre-construction through end of project. Must have experience handling more than 2 projects at one time. This person will also be able to lead teams effectively. 75% travel required. Sponsorship is not available for this position. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the management of construction activities and task assignments
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment and inspections support the project schedule
- Work with Project Manager(s) to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment
- Ensure construction documents are reviewed for completeness and constructability
- Lead the creation, review and update project schedule and three-week look ahead scheduling
- Oversee the development and implementation of site utilization plan and establish crew sizes
- Drive effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
- Provide leadership to work crews and group field operations
- Coach, mentor and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents, superintendents,and sr. superintendents
- Establish and nurture teamwork environment
- Ensure crews have resources and support
- Manage work direction and performance evaluations
- Identify hiring needs and participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions if needed
- Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments and career growth opportunities.
- Implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety Program at project site
- Manage and lead open shop and union issues
- Develop relationships with all visitors to the site: customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, etc.
- Lead site work and logistics efficiently, providing suggestions for improvement
- Assist the Field Operations Manager with monthly project review which includes budget, schedule, labor,safety ,quality, and equipment
- Uphold company and group field initiatives
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail orientation for accurate and timely labor, safety, and quality reports, etc.
- Knowledge of construction and generally accepted business practices
- Basic understanding of multiple Mortenson systems (i.e., labor, financial, safety, quality, scheduling, and planning)
- Microsoft Office skills
- Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence; i.e., being aware of emotions and motivations of self and others
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 100%

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience, or 10 years trade experience
- Minimum 14 years construction management or related experience
- Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $174,400 - $261,600. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. #LI-GB1 Please make note:
