Summary of Job Duties:In service to UAMS Health's Vision 2029 Strategic Plan and the annual UAMS Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Plan, the Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst abstracts, collects, extracts, compiles, analyzes, and reports quality and performance data for the Cardiovascular Clinical Registries (STS, NCDR, GWTG, ELSO). The Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst works closely with their QM Coordinator partners, Physician Champions, Service Line leadership, and Medical Center Leadership to assure that data is accurate, timely, and providing value to our institutional and Service Line goals, objectives, and improvement priorities. The Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst works closely with the Performance Data Director to assure that data is collected in the most accurate and efficient manner and works with IT partners to operationalize automated, non-manual data collection process. The Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst works to create efficient and effective data entry processes and data sets to simplify data capture processes and assure accuracy and usability. The Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst works with key users of each data set to assure that actionable and meaningful information is produced. The Cardiovascular Quality Data Analyst remains current in their knowledge of the data sets and requirements and works with the Performance Data Director and key stakeholders to make any changes or revisions as required. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of IT job-specific experience or other relevant job experience in a healthcare setting

  • 1 year of Quality, Research, Analytics, Performance Improvement, or Regulatory Experience

  • Experience with reviewing charts in an Electronic Health Record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Cardiovascular Medicine, Surgical Services, or Internal Medicine

  • RN or CNOR

  • Nursing Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's degree

  • Completion of relevant Registry certification, as appropriate (within 6 months of hire)

  • Strong computer and analytic skills.

  • Experience with quality indicator specifications and methodology

  • Ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and compiles quality data for their assigned cardiovascular registries.

  • Data collection can come from manual abstraction, the querying of electronic data sets, audit sheets, or data collection from external departments, or external data sources.

  • Enters and maintains data in external or internally built databases.

  • Assures that data is entered accurately and appropriately based on established specifications.

  • When a new internal database needs to be built, ensure that specification documents are written, approved, and adhered to.

  • Assures that data is collected and submitted promptly, based on

  • internal or external timelines and deadlines.

  • Escalates and resolves any issues regarding data integrity, interpretability, completeness or accuracy.

  • Works closely with physician champions, medical directors, and clinical staff to ensure accurate and complete data.

  • Designs chart audit tools, quality monitoring tools, and databases as requested.

  • Works with the Performance Data Director and IT partners to develop efficient, non-manual data collection processes.

  • Works with Informatics to make recommendations for enhancing data fields in the Electronic Health Record to improve data accuracy and completeness.

  • Conducts ongoing data analysis and evaluation to identify performance gaps, trends, special cause variation, and potential causal factors.

  • Utilizes appropriate visual graphical tools and data displays (including control charts) to provide interpretation ease and meaningful conclusions. Utilizes more advanced statistical tools and analysis, when appropriate.

  • Working with the Performance Data Director develops and adheres to formal reporting formats and templates.

  • Works to create a reporting timeline and adhere to that timeline.

  • Assists with compiling data and narrative reports to summarize findings.

  • Assists Performance Data Director, Service Line leadership, and the Quality Management Department to compile and complete periodic and annual program and Service Line evaluations.

  • Performs data pulls and data analysis as requested.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert about elements needed to meet quality reporting measures and metrics.

  • Designs and implements formal quality assurance processes to assure data accuracy.

  • Processes may include inter-rater reliability studies, sample-based re-abstraction, or electric validation methods.

  • Shares quality assurance results with the Performance Data Director and physician champions and develops action plans for any data quality issues.

  • Working with the Performance Data Director develops cross-training and cross-coverage to ensure timely data collection in times of absence or increased volumes.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements as they pertain to quality performance data.

  • Maintains current knowledge of assigned data registries, databases, or indicator sets.

  • Assists with regulatory and certification visits by providing support with data and documentation.

  • Participates in committees, teams, and department meetings as requested.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
