About the Job Under supervision of the Operations Manager and the Occupational Therapy (OT) Education and Development Coordinator, completes all requirements of the LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders) core curriculum, and furthermore, renders professional occupational therapy services to an assigned caseload of patients. Provides consultation to hospital and community based staff regarding identification, evaluation, and intervention for patients with known or suspected developmental disability. Works cooperatively within the OT Department as well as with team members of assigned clinical programs to support the overall clinical mission of the hospital. Fulfills the requirements of the OT Fellowship as specified to the AOTA.
What you will do
- Fully participates in the LEND fellowship, including attendance at all required LEND lectures and leadership practica (attendance at a minimum of 80% of scheduled lectures is required) and completion of the research, community, and advocacy components of the LEND curriculum. Completes all documentation and self-evaluation as required for certificate of completion for the LEND training program.
- General OT fellow: Will devote a minimum of 300 hours over the course of the year (approximately 6 to 8 hours per week, four of which are classes and meetings) to LEND.
- Autism Track OT fellow: In addition to the above LEND commitment, spends a full day in the LEND/RAC Autism assessment clinic.
- Maintains a caseload of pediatric patients in various clinical settings, as assigned. Develops an individualized therapy plan for each assigned patient which includes goals/objectives of treatment in relation to goals of admission or of an interdisciplinary team plan. Provides therapeutic interventions including activities of daily living, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic group interventions, dynamic therapeutic functional activities, aquatic therapy, and other strategies.
- Actively seeks opportunities to demonstrate leadership as a pediatric occupational therapist under the mentorship of established OT leaders, through such activities as teaching, publication, conducting applied research, designing innovative programs or products, participating on professional committees or task groups, consulting to community agencies regarding policy and systems changes benefiting the lives of children and their families
- Contributes to the fiscal functioning and operational needs of the department through maintaining individual productivity standards, completing daily charges accurately, and maintaining economical use of equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned to promote overall effective coordination of occupational therapy clinical operations.

- Meets all criteria for candidacy as a MCHB supported LEND trainee as defined by the LEND Program Evaluation.
