About Salesforce

We're Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too - driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good - you've come to the right place.

Tableau Cloud is a SaaS visual analytics product and the most rapidly growing business in Tableau. Cloud Engineering is a lean group charged with scaling Tableau Online and how we operate it to meet this demand. As Software Engineering MTS (Member of Technical Staff) of the Pod Infrastructure Team, you will be working to ensure Tableau Cloud can meet its growth goals by building scalable, secure and cost-effective infrastructure. You will also be building deployment infrastructure that allows repeatable and reliable deployments at scale for Tableau Cloud.

Some of the things you'll be doing include...

  • Write clean code with high test coverage.
  • Work relatively independently when a plan is agreed to and are relied on to solve implementation challenges because you understand the designs and architecture of your team's features.
  • Able to refine and clarify the scope of your work, and organize work so it can be forecasted and delivered effectively.
  • Understand the technical, operational, and business context of your team's area and of the customer persona you build for.
  • Understand engineering best practices and apply them to the development lifecycle for your team.
  • Analyze and fix bugs with guidance from more senior engineers.
  • Confidently ask questions to expand your knowledge of the team's features, designs, processes, and quality implementations.
  • Exhibit ownership beyond just finishing coding your features, for example, by taking an active role in defining tests and monitoring your code in production.
  • Regularly present ideas and results to your team and contribute to documentation.

Who you are...

  • Experienced. You have 2 years of industry (non-intern) experience coding commercial software and a passion for solving complex problems. 1+ years of experience of using Java/Python to build highly reliable software and services. 1+ years of experience in infrastructure automation using Terraform, Puppet and Packer. Familiarity with deployment and release management technologies like Spinnaker. Experienced in leading projects across development teams, particularly using Agile methodologies. At least a year with hands-on AWS experience.
  • Technical. You're fluent in commonly used design patterns and can constructively review the work of others to ensure high quality. You're familiar with services and different service-oriented architectures. You can quickly see and understand architecture and where your team fits in. You have a keen eye for quality and is a strong advocate for engineering excellence.
  • DevOps Mindset. You are familiar with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts. You treat operational issues as if they are software problems. You view software as a primary tool to manage, maintain, fix, and extend systems required to support large development environments. You promote operational excellence!
  • A True Team Player. You enjoy collaborating, learning from or teaching others so we can all become better developers.
  • Customer Advocate. You understand customer requirements and prioritize for maximum customer/user experience.
