Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Center for Teaching, Learning & Digital Education supports and encourages collaborative efforts involving faculty, staff, and administrators, working to serve as a model for change and growth at ECSU via online delivery methods. The Center for Teaching, Learning & Digital Education ECSU extends availability and access to convenient course offerings to students who are isolated from campus due to time and/or geographic location, utilizing existing, new, and emerging technological strategies.
Description of Work
The Instructional Design Specialist ( IDS) will provide professional development and support to faculty members who design and teach online courses. The IDS will collaborate with subject matter experts todesign or adapt coursework to online learning platforms and will support faculty use of instructional technologies as well as develop initiatives that build and monitor quality online instructional design and delivery. This position performs a wide range of responsibilities such as: providing leadership in the support of faculty members who teach in an online environment, serving as a learning management system administrator, and serving as the Quality Matters Coordinator.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Knowledge, utilization, and creation of content inside a learning management system.

Experience designing and teaching online courses using quality course design standards.

Experience designing training materials and facilitating workshops for faculty and staff.

Experience providing software related training and technical support to faculty, staff and students to support the use of instructional technologies.

Experience using a variety of hardware including pc's, macs, laptops, tablets, projectors, scanners, web cameras, video cameras, SMART boards or similar equipment, etc.

Experience using a variety of software, including learning management systems, lecture capture systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, web conferencing software, mobile apps,
etc.

Experience, knowledge, and utilization of the Internet and multiple web browsers.

Possess superior organizational skills and customer service-based work ethic.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Possess the ability to edit multimedia content including audio, video, digital images, website
content, etc.

Possess project management skills and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Minimum Training and Experience
Possess a bachelor's degree, master's degree is preferred, in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or a related field with one to three years of experience or certifications providing instructional design support, instructional technology support, teaching online, and professional development to faculty and staff. Experience in higher education preferred.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
