Boston Children's Hospital Trust is the philanthropic resource for the hospital which provides vital funds to support our cutting-edge research, community outreach, patient family programs and medical education.

The Associate Creative Director oversees the creative direction of communications materials supporting the Trust. This role will work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues to develop communications materials to support all key stages through the donor process: awareness, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Oversees the creative execution of those strategies. Articulates and advocates a vision and voice for the brand, with an understanding and respect for the visual brand personality of Boston Children's Hospital. Works in partnership with other members of the communications team to develop design and creative direction that optimize the strengths of each media, including print, online and mobile. Inspires others and creates/maintains an environment where big ideas consistently occur and thrive.

This is a hybrid position with an onsite work requirement of 6 days each month.

This Associate Creative Director, Trust Communications will:

  • Determine the most effective creative approaches and media with senior Trust staff to meet specific fundraising communications needs.
  • Serve as primary contact for design and brand direction of communications materials, responsible for developing creative briefs, managing internal and external resources for fundraising concepts, copy and design; and managing external vendors including printers, designers and photographers.
  • Oversee fundraising and event communications materials in coordination with the digital team, including presentations, invitations, signage, videos, and digital communications as needed.
  • Serve as the lead creative voice on photoshoots and guide the photography selection process.
  • Direct freelance designers and photographers in the production of donor communications.
  • Ensure work is delivered on time and regularly report status of projects to the AVP, Trust Communications.

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree or equivalent professional work experience.
  • At least 8 years of agency or in-house creative experience leading integrated, cross-channel campaigns across all print media and digital including websites, mobile and social.
  • Art direction experience and formal design training with exceptional conceptual and design skills, and familiarity with the copy side including print, collateral, and digital communications.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and written communication skills in relating to management, development and hospital staff as well as to donors.
  • Consistent attention to detail, high productivity, solution-oriented performer responsive to both staff and donor stakeholders.
  • High degree of professional maturity. Ability to inspire and mentor a creative team and oversee multiple complex projects.
  • Ability to present persuasively and defend creative work to internal teams and clients, and accept and incorporate feedback from AVP, peers, management and fundraisers.
  • Strong technical skills in design and word processing software programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark/InDesign, PowerPoint. After Effects and video production a bonus.
