The Opportunity

The General Education Program (GEP) within the Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an instructional specialist position. The position is a non-tenure earning, in-unit, 12-month faculty position reporting to the Associate Vice Provost. The position is open until filled. Specific duties include the following:
1) Serve as part of the GEP leadership team to plan and conduct events and programming in support of courses, learning outcomes, and other professional development activities for faculty.
2) Provide program management, including data and administrative support for assessment, unit reporting, and institutional effectiveness.
3) Teach two GEP courses per academic year.
4) Collaborate with GEP Faculty Fellows and Foundation Area Co-Leads on assessment and professional development.
5) Work with faculty in cohorts and on an individual basis, in support of improved general education teaching, and liaise with other GEP collaborative units as necessary.
6) Participate in grant writing, research, or special projects where professional development, assessment and general education teaching are components of the proposal or activity.
7) Maintain current knowledge of trends and literature in the field of general and/or international education, as well as relevant state and national legislation.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • An earned master's degree from an accredited institution

  • Experience teaching general education courses at the college level

  • Evidence of working collaboratively


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in higher-education development and training

  • Extensive teaching experience at the college level

  • A terminal degree from an accredited institution by the start of the appointment

  • Demonstrated potential for research in general education

  • Familiarity with course and program-level assessment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively, efficiently, and equitably with faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a collegial environment
