Parts Runner/Shop Assistant

We have an immediate opening for a Parts Runner/Shop Assistant at our LRI Hidden Valley Facility, a Waste Connections Company, in Puyallup, WA. This essential role supports the maintenance of our heavy equipment across both the landfill and transfer stations by handling parts delivery, managing inventory and paperwork, and assisting with various administrative tasks.

Pay and Schedule:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Pay: $25.15 to $26.15 per hour

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Parts Running: Transport parts and materials to and from various locations across the landfill and transfer stations. This includes delivering parts for heavy equipment used in waste management operations, such as hydraulic hoses, filters, engine components, and tools, and ensuring maintenance is completed quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts and materials across all sites, ensuring that necessary items are readily available and properly logged. This helps minimize delays in maintenance activities at both the landfill and transfer stations.
  • Administrative Support: Support the shop team by managing paperwork, including logging inventory, tracking parts usage, and documenting equipment repairs and services performed. Ensure proper records of equipment are maintained at both the landfill and transfer stations.
  • Maintenance Support: Assist with basic shop maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and organizing the work area, ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored, and supporting the maintenance crew when needed.
  • Truck Operation: Operate a company pickup truck to transport parts, materials, and tools between the various job sites, including the landfill, transfer stations, and the shop. Safe and efficient driving skills are essential for navigating the facility and surrounding areas.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following safety protocols while working around heavy equipment. Ensure materials and tools are organized and that safety standards are always adhered to, especially in the busy and potentially hazardous environment of landfills and transfer stations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance shop, industrial environment, or heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions and around heavy machinery at both the landfill and transfer stations.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to tasks.
