PURPOSE
The Director of RF Product Development will lead the creation of innovative products and test methods for validating and characterizing RF and mmWave semiconductor components. This role involves close collaboration with product marketing to provide technical insights on emerging market trends (e.g., 5G, mmWave radar sensors, silicon photonics, 400G Ethernet) to help set product direction. The Director will identify industry trends and customer use cases, collaborate with customers on new products and platforms, and lead a cross-functional team to achieve product development milestones, including performance, lifetime, cost, market window, and manufacturability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead a cross-functional engineering team in developing next-generation RF and mmWave wafer probe and RF calibration products.
- Collect and translate customer input into actionable development strategies.
- Collaborate closely with marketing to set technical direction, define development goals, and calculate project ROIs.
- Lead the engineering team in setting project goals, planning projects, building and executing project timelines, and staying within budget.
- Coordinate programs across R&D, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing
- Manage and develop the Product Development team, including hiring responsibilities.
- Oversee cost center expenses and budgeting, including participation in annual expense and capital budgeting cycles.
- Education, Experience, and Skills Required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or other engineering field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the semiconductor, acoustic filter, cellular communications, ATE, electronics instrument, or similar industry.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical management role.
- Strong working knowledge of RF engineering principles.
- Familiarity with back-end semiconductor processes and mechanical engineering is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in mentoring junior team members and working both independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally.
The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $163,500 and $214,620
. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
