As a Sr. Principal Engineering Technician in CONMED's Precision Machining Operation, you will play a key role in supporting the engineering team in three primary areas: sustaining engineering; new product introduction support; and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will assist with the development, implementation, and support of machining processes used in the manufacture of complex high-precision medical devices and components. You will also provide subject matter expertise and support to our High-Performance Work Teams on the production floor. This is a high impact position that will allow you to leverage your problem solving and technical skills in a dynamic and diverse production environment. Duties and Responsibilities: o Assist engineers with sustaining engineering, new product introduction, and continuous improvement initiatives. o Act as a first point of contact for Machining Associates, Operators, and Level 1 Machinists. Provide technical leadership and training to less experienced employees. o Assist in the development of new set-ups and programs for new products or process changes. o Set up and operate multi-axis CNC and or manual equipment, tools, and accessories as required for the development or improvement of machining processes. o Interpret drawings, design processes, and CNC programs to manufacture medical devices and components. Perform test runs and make the necessary adjustments to ensure the resulting product meets specifications. o Assist in the development of work instructions and inspection procedures for machine operators to ensure a high-quality output and update as required. Create engineering change orders and complete all required documentation and computer system transactions to implement the changes. o Perform verification/validation of set-up programs for new product or pre-production parts. Create and execute machining process verifications as required. o Identify and participate in resolving machining problems in order to product defect free parts. o Demonstrate ability to understand and edit multi axis G-code/M-code mill programs, multi axis G-code lathe programs and up to multi axis Mazatrol lathe programs. o Assist in the investigation and resolution of any issues that arise during the manufacturing process to ensure that site safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met and machine downtime is minimized. o Assist in the development of new machining technologies that would enable the department to reduce costs and increase output and in the development of tooling and fixturing. o Support engineering projects and meet all assigned project deadlines and deliverables. o Make reports, maintain files, lists, logs, etc. and complete required paperwork. o Interface with inside/outside contacts to complete assignments, resolve problems. o Perform other related functions as required by management. Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of work experience on a variety of CNC equipment in a machining environment This position is not eligible for employer-based visa sponsorship.
