The mission of the NC State Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position will serve as the Assistant General Manager of the Men's Basketball Team for North Carolina State University Athletic Department which competes as a
NCAA Division I team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. |
Essential Job Duties |
The Director of Player Development for Men's Basketball is responsible for overseeing the holistic development of student-athletes within the basketball program. This position is responsible for assisting players with personal growth off and on the court. The Director of Player Development regularly interfaces with the athletics department administration as a liaison to various student-athlete facing services provided by the athletics program. It is a critical role to provide overall welfare support in all facets of the experience for the student-athletes. Key Responsibilities:
- Player Development:
- Design and implement individualized development plans for assigned players, focusing on skill enhancement.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to players and coaching staff.
- Coordinate with the coaching staff to integrate player development strategies into practice sessions and game plans.
- Academic Support:
- Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and collaborate with academic advisors to ensure compliance with NCAA eligibility requirements.
- Personal Growth:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal and professional development.
- Organize workshops and seminars on topics such as leadership, time management, and career planning.
- Community Engagement:
- Promote community involvement and volunteer opportunities for student-athletes.
- Represent the basketball program at community events and functions.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Division 1 Men's Basketball as player, graduate assistant, player development, coaching, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, academic advisors, and other stakeholders.
