About the Role

Culmen International is looking for a Bacterial Immunology Lead Scientist to support an USAMRIID program at Fort Detrick, MD.

The Bacterial Immunology Lead Scientist will drive research initiatives in bacterial immunology, contributing to the development of vaccines and therapeutics targeting high-priority biological threat agents. This position requires advanced knowledge of immune responses to bacterial pathogens, leadership in laboratory research, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborations.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

    Lead bacterial immunology studies within the Bacteriology Division
  • Design and oversee experiments supporting vaccine and therapeutic research
  • Maintain compliance with biosafety and regulatory standards (e.g., BSL-2/3)
  • Analyze data and prepare technical reports and publications
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Mentor junior scientists and technicians


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in immunology, microbiology, or related field with 4+ years of experience
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant laboratory and leadership experience in immunology or infectious disease research.
  • Expertise in bacterial pathogenesis and host immune response
  • Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, and in vivo models
  • Proficiency in scientific writing and presentation
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.


Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in immunology or a related biomedical field
