JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State's Materials Research Institute (MRI) is seeking a part-time IT User Support Specialist to provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students in the materials research environment. IT User Support positions perform analytical, technical, and administrative work in support of new and existing computer devices and workstations; diagnose and resolve problems in response to customer reported incidents; install new hardware and software and maintains existing components; train end users in the use of equipment and software; perform general maintenance tasks; and Conference room AV.

Sample Activities Include-

Review and take necessary actions on user ticket
Provide Technical support for lab environment(s)
Provide necessary IT training and onboarding for new staff
Support MRI IT devices, including but not limited to:

  • Computers

  • Audio Video Equipment

  • Projectors/TV

  • Digital Signage

  • Printers

  • Create and update service-level process documentation for new and existing technologies and equipment.

  • Assist with the implementation of technology and security initiatives.

  • Assist on infrastructure deployments and changes.

Work effectively on challenging tasks independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn new skills and technologies, manage multiple priorities with attention to detail, and communicate well with both technical and non-technical audiences.
