What is the opportunity?

This position supports tax regulatory reporting for RBC Capital Markets. The role will provide strategic direction and leadership on tax reporting projects. Consults and interfaces with various operational and technology departments, and leads high detail analysis of tax program workflow, business workflow and documents related procedures. Partners with the various operations and other business lines to solve problems and improve processes, and documents technical improvements and innovation. Works with Director, Senior Manager, and Senior Initiatives Manager within the group to understand, fulfill, and implement business requirements for tax document redesign and improvement, including, but not limited to, regulatory and firm-initiated requirements.

What will you do?

  • Actively participants in planning of aspects of client facing tax documents and system changes with business line, operational, and technical personnel.
  • Manage and complete the production of tax reporting forms; 1099s, 1042s, REMIC, 2439, 8966, 5498 by the deadline outlined each year per the IRS rules. This includes validating files, prepping files for the Cost Basis team to validate, uploading files into the tax system, reviewing, and working exception reports and files.
  • Run and analyze reports to uncover trends and systemic issues to reduce future data issues and ensure adherence to all regulatory and firm policy requirements.
  • Function as a tax reporting subject matter expert for individuals requiring research, problem resolution, or guidance.
  • Reduce risk and increase efficiencies by suggesting process changes and system modifications.
  • Participate in testing and implementation of new systems and processes as required.
  • Train and function as a resource for less experienced Operation's team members.
  • Write procedures as needed and complete annual reviews.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years of securities, banking, technology, and/or job specific industry experience
  • 3+ year prior securities, banking, technology industry and/or job specific related industry
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment with the ability to provide direction to other team members.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and privacy/confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Strong problem identification, analytical and resolution skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Operations professional designation (i.e., Series 99, Series 7, or Series 6, or other acceptable equivalent) must be held or obtained within prescribed time from hire date.

Nice-to-have

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in business, finance, or related field
  • 2+ years credit operations, project management, analysis, and/or risk control experience
  • Experience with brokerage systems
  • Sound organizational knowledge with operational mindset; including products, processes, systems and regulatory and/or client needs.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $65,000 - $115,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
