I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom.
The Career Development Office ( CDO) of The George Washington University Law School advises and counsels law students in professional development and assists them in developing career strategies. This position is designed to help law school students and recent law school graduates begin their legal careers by helping to grow and maintain employer relationships with a wide range of organizations including law firms, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. This role supports the Director of Employer Outreach and Relations in building and maintaining relationships between employers and GW Law to enhance programs; create job, internship, and externship opportunities; and facilitate the post-graduate employment of students.
This position reports to the Director of Employer Outreach and Relations with the following representative duties and responsibilities:

  • Supports relationships with employers seeking legal talent to fill entry-level and early-career attorneys and J.D. advantage positions. Corresponds with employers as needed by responding to inquiries and requests from employers.
  • Supports processes for the management and growth of the connections GW Law has with legal employers including small and medium-sized law firms; local, state, and federal governmental agencies; and nonprofit organizations to enhance long-term employment opportunities for students.
  • Assists with legal recruiting and outreach events, including supporting the Director of Employer Relations and Outreach with day-of logistics for live and virtual events. Inputs recruiting data into the CDO database and creates related reports. Prepares resume books in response to employer requests.
  • Develops marketing collateral and supports advertising programs for employer outreach by coordinating the publishing of materials and information related to the Career Development Office's programs, activities, including social media postings, flyers, and posters.
  • Assists with market research to gather information about the evolving legal employment market.
  • Works with the CDO Communications team to support social media presence with content that conveys information to J.D. students about employers and their respective recruiting activities at GW Law.
  • Supports data integrity of list of employers (including law firms, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies) actively recruiting GW Law students.
  • In coordination with the CDO Communications team, manages and updates CDOwebsite content and digital display screens.
  • Uses a variety of technology platforms to support recruiting events and stays informed of technology tools.
  • Participates in annual planning and calendaring for recruiting programs and events.
  • Supports students and employers involved in the recruiting process.
  • Plans, organizes, and supports virtual and in-person recruiting events.
  • Routinely engages in troubleshooting and problem solving with systems and technologies that support virtual recruiting programs.
  • Provides support to other CDO teams as needed to help further the overall mission of the CDO in serving the GW Law student community.


Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail. Excellent technology, data, communications, and collaboration skills. Ability to work with a large team in a flexible, fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Experience working with a variety of legal employers.
  • Demonstrable proficiency using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, CORE (12Twenty), FloRecruit, Canva, LinkedIn, Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience working in the legal industry or at a professional services organization.

Hiring Range $51,455.52 - $70,708.76
