Job Summary

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Director, Capital Markets, Global Inclusion will collaborate with platform leaders to ideate, design, orchestrate and deliver winning initiatives that leverage inclusive practices to create business value. These plans will be embedded into Capital Markets' business and talent practices in support of the platform's overall strategy.

While the strategic priorities of Capital Markets will naturally change over time to reflect evolving needs, this role will likely support and partner with platform leaders on areas including: attracting / acquiring / retaining top talent, helping to unlock the full potential of talent and teams, bringing in and growing business with a wider range of clients, and protecting RBC's and Capital Markets' brand reputation (internal and external).

The role will work directly under the supervision of RBC's enterprise Vice President, Global Inclusion, and will heavily collaborate with Capital Markets business and HR leadership, including many platform-based groups (e.g., Diversity Leadership Councils, Employee Resource Group chairs, etc).

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to refine (and regularly optimize) an operating model that efficiently and effectively: (1) identifies Capital Markets' highest priority areas to address, (2) drives high-quality decision-making at pace, (3) maximizes use of our collective capacity, (4) effectively monitors results, and (5) ensures all relevant parties are informed / engaged / aligned.
  • Directly support the development of priorities for Capital Markets to foster greater inclusion and fairness amongst core stakeholders (e.g., colleagues, clients) and to tap into the diverse perspectives of the RBC team to develop relevant, modern, and innovative business solutions.
  • Drive action that fosters greater inclusion and fairness within Capital Markets, including systematic adjustments (e.g., changes to policies, processes, practices, tools) and upskilling programs (e.g., formal trainings, experience sharing sessions), and where needed, hands-on planning and management of the execution of processes, practices and programs.
  • Serve as the dedicated liaison between Enterprise and Capital Markets (regarding inclusion topics) - including bringing new solutions to Capital Markets from other parts of RBC and surfacing winning efforts built within Capital Markets to consider for deployment elsewhere.
  • Partner with the Sustainability Performance and Data team to support platform and regional data needs related to advancing strategic priorities, monitoring progress, and ensuring accountability.
  • Support the VP, Global Inclusion in developing enterprise-wide strategies and roadmaps by leveraging one's direct experience supporting Capital Markets platform; additionally, serve as a source of ideas for the broader RBC Sustainability team by 'connecting dots' between practices.
  • Ensure RBC is accurately and appropriately represented as a leader in local and community initiatives supported by the business platform(s).
  • Supervise and manage a direct report.

What do you need to succeed?

Desired skills:

  • Leadership experience in Human Resources, Human Capital, Inclusion, or a related field.
  • Broad knowledge of topics related to creating or increasing access to opportunities, fostering inclusion, and/or promoting fairness in business or talent processes (which may come from a variety of backgrounds, not just previous inclusion-oriented work).
  • Strong strategic mindset that can contribute heavily to questions around "what" should be done, "where" in the platform, and "how" to execute in ways that deliver strong overall results.
  • Proven advisory and consulting skills with a demonstrated capability to collaborate with senior executives, including the ability to generate buy-in, drive cross-team alignment, appropriately set expectations, and activate / mobilize for action.
  • Business acumen and aptitude to rapidly digest changing landscapes and ascertain the practical implications for initiatives that are either established, in-process, or planned.
  • Strong communication skills, including comfort with presenting to (and driving active engagement from) large, global, and/or senior audiences.
  • Experience analyzing complex datasets to synthesize digestible insights that can assist executives in making decisions and/or create compelling support for formulated plans.
  • Demonstrated capabilities as an inclusive leader and professional development focused coach.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, collaboration and/or mediation skills.
  • Located in the New York metro area with the ability to regularly spend in-person time in local Capital Markets offices within that region (i.e., multiple times per week), and also, to travel to other key Capital Markets locations in Canada and the United States.

What's in it for you?

  • High impact work that is critical to RBC and Capital Markets' overall success
  • Significant visibility to senior executives across Capital Markets and in Enterprise teams
  • Interesting, complex work that makes a difference for our business and in peoples' lives
  • A collaborative culture that recognizes innovative business ideas.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $160,000-$250,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.

RBC's compensation philosophy and principles recognize the importance of a highly qualified global workforce and plays a critical role in attracting, engaging and retaining talent that:

  • Drives RBC's high-performance culture
  • Enables collective achievement of our strategic goals
  • Generates sustainable shareholder returns and above market shareholder value
