Job Summary:



The Program Manager of Alumni Relations will be a key driver in the growth of school-based alumni engagement through alumni programs and outreach, alumni volunteer development and the identification and development of key relationships. This position is focused on connecting the School of Pharmacy alumni community to the school and network through programming and outreach. It will also partner with fundraising colleagues to support the growth of the base of philanthropic support for the assigned schools or programs, with potential project management of alumni giving communications initiatives.

The role is focused on engagement of alumni . This position will develop and execute a strategy with the to identify alumni engagement priorities. This position will also plan and execute programs for alumni, based on the alumni engagement priorities of the School of Pharmacy . This position will be responsible for managing and leading the CU Pharmacy Alumni Association board of directors, for developing relationships with key partners at the School for collaboration, such as the Student Services Office, Experiential Office, Recruitment Office, and the Careers office. This role will develop content for alumni communications in partnership with the CU Anschutz Office of Alumni Relations and School of Pharmacy's communication department. This role will support improved contact and engagement data for the alumni population.

This role will be an essential, strategic partner in expanding the base of engaged alumni for the School of Pharmacy. This person will be a key member of the Office of Alumni Relations to develop and support strategies that cultivate alumni relationships to encourage a life-long connection to the campus, provides benefits and connection for alumni after graduation, and increases the volunteerism and support of the alumni population to the campus.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develops alumni strategies that direct the prioritization of programming goals.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the Pharmacy alumni program.
  • Develop relationships with key partners to find collaboration opportunities.
  • Maintain relationship and serve as alumni relations point of contact for School of Pharmacy Leadership, with a focus on Pharm D, Masters and Ph.D alumni of the School of Pharmacy. Resident alumni may also be included in outreach and future programming
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic and highly engaged alumni
  • Develop programs and recommends strategy to engage and cultivate current and former residents and fellows in collaboration with the various departments in the School of Pharmacy.
  • Manage student engagement to help build pathway as future alumni, with a specific focus on developing relationships with current and past student leaders and increasing the integration of alumni into student programming and milestones, including commencement and the White Coat ceremony
  • Manage and supports student and alumni programming such as alumni events, and mentor opportunities.
  • Maintain partnership with the Offices of Student Services, Marketing and Communications, Experiential, Recruitment, and Careers
  • Manages the alumni award processes, including nominations, selections, and partnering on award events.
  • Evaluates alumni programs and services for customer satisfaction using post-event surveys, focus groups, and measurements.
  • Oversees content production of alumni electronic communications and print publications including website maintenance, e-newsletters, magazines, newsletters, brochures, invitations, and other communications.
  • Works closely with CU Anschutz Office of Alumni Relations team to provide best practice services and support to the alumni population.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of all alumni events and outreach, which may include reunions, mentoring events, awards events, networking events, and speaker events.
  • Responds to all inquiries related to CU Pharmacy alumni relations.
  • Represents the University at events in order to support the University and cultivate alumni relationships.
  • Partners and supports Office of Advancement colleagues to inform messaging of alumni giving campaigns.
  • Develop communication plans that maximize resources to promote alumni activities and engagement and extend outreach to intended audiences as effectively as possible.
  • Build relationship with alumni in order to share their stories; develop alumni profiles and write articles for inclusion in SSPPS and Campus Alumni communication platforms.
  • Communicate the benefits of being an alum by accessing resources such as digital learning, professional development, continuing education offerings, library offerings, etc.


Volunteer Management - (20%)



  • Oversees the CU Pharmacy Alumni Association board of directors, including strategic initiatives, subcommittees, and recruits, trains and supervises volunteers.
  • Recruits, coordinates, supports and supervises alumni volunteers as needed for alumni events, projects and special initiatives.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages reunion volunteers and committees in conjunction with the School of Pharmacy Fall Reunion.
  • Recognizes alumni volunteers, including preceptors, for their contribution to the School and alumni association.


Integration with Development Efforts (10%)



  • Partner with the respective assistant director of development to help steward CU Pharmacy alumni prospects and benefactors
  • Serve as a resource to align annual giving efforts with the alumni community and relevant activities
  • Send any alumni prospect referrals to be reviewed by the Office of Advancement
  • Support development colleagues in identifying alumni testimonials or speakers when needed
  • Support consistent communication of giving opportunities through email footers, event thank you for attending messages speaking remarks, and event collateral where appropriate
  • Serve as a representative for the alumni relations program at School and Office of Advancement development events where appropriate
  • Maintain frequent communications with school leadership about any and all of these contacts and ongoing relationships


Data Analysis (10%)



  • Enhances alumni contact information in the CU Advancement CRM and maintains an organized tracking system for reporting and analytics.
  • Develop processes to improve contact data management.
  • Fulfills requests for data related to alumni activities.
  • Develops and maintains a deep understanding of institutional priorities, academic programs and centers of excellence in order to translate these assets into communications and programs to raise awareness within the alumni community.
  • Tracks alumni engagement activities in CU Advancement CRM to show the impact of alumni programs.
  • Proactively provides data analyses to school leadership for informing current and future directions in alumni relationships and the integration with philanthropy


Other Expectations



  • Able to travel up to 10% (Required for this position)
  • Available for some evenings and weekends when required for events and board meetings.
  • Serve as a member of the CU Anschutz Alumni team, participating in campus activities and events as needed
  • And various other duties or tasks as assigned and/or needed.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of alumni relations, fundraising, community engagement or related experience.


Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific 3 years of experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 4 years of alumni relations, fundraising, public relations or related experience.
  • Experience in higher education environment or a medical campus environment.
  • Experience in events and volunteer and/or board management.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to execute events.
  • Ability to manage volunteers successfully.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $70,000-$78,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
