How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Loaner Repair Technician 2, you will play a key role in the assembly, disassembly, quality testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic-mechanical equipment in a service-driven environment.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Electronics & Mechanical Systems Proficiency
  • Strong understanding of DC-AC principles, solid-state theory, audio and video signals, and their applications.
  • Expertise in soldering at the component level.
  • Proficient in reading and operating various electronic measuring equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal analyzers, and megohm meters.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting complex schematics and test procedures.
  • Ability to test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic-mechanical equipment in a service environment.
  • Experience with building and troubleshooting wiring harnesses.
  • Working knowledge of clutch and bearing systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of motor components and functionality.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers for verifying part dimensions.
  • General proficiency in operating basic hand and power tools.
  1. Technical Process & Quality Assurance:
  • Ability to carry out technical repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and follow assembly procedures (A.P.).
  • Capable of performing assembly of new products to support other departments when needed.
  • Skilled in mechanical processes such as drilling, tapping, and screw removal.
  • Strong attention to detail in maintaining repair documentation and ensuring accuracy.
  1. Operational Effectiveness & Communication:
  • Commitment to workplace safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in task execution.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications relevant to technical operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Education & Experience

  • Candidate should have a minimum of 2 years' experience of Electrical/Mechanical repair knowledge.
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with ERP systems (IFS preferred)
  • Production Assembly experience would be beneficial.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Normal work hours with flexible start times.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime as required.
  • Steel toe shoes and safety glasses must be worn at all times when in the production areas. Additional PPE may be required such as gloves and face shields (PPE) depending on safety requirements
  • Periodically lift up to 50 pounds and spend hours standing, sitting, and/or walking during a normal day.
