Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the primary role of the Reliability Engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The Engineer must know and apply correct management and maintenance disciplines to troubleshoot and maintain the sustainability and reliability of the integrated systems of people, materials and equipment. The sustainability and reliability of all of the plant systems assures that the plant can meet business demands and schedules, for maximum profitability.

What you will do:



  • The Reliability Engineer is to track the production losses and maintenance cost of assets and find ways to reduce those losses or high costs.
  • Assure that the Management of Change (MOC) system is followed to capture all changes made to plant processes or equipment.
  • Assists in the sitewide Predictive Maintenance program which includes vibration monitoring lubrication and oil analysis.
  • Improve the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) program for equipment. This includes; piping repair and replacement, storage tank mechanical integrity, Pressure Vessel inspection and repair, relief valve inspection and testing, maintenance procedure development.
  • Participates in and conducts incident investigations using the RCA process.
  • The Reliability Engineer will be involved in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets.
  • Act as liaison with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering, coordinating the work of internal personnel when necessary, and controlling costs.
  • The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for engineering, maintenance, and reliability of plant equipment and capital projects.
  • Regularly review equipment failures. Determine what PM action can be taken to prevent reoccurring failure. Recommend PM instructions accordingly.
  • Regularly review downtime reports and equipment histories to identify reoccurring maintenance problems requiring engineering attention. Find engineering solutions to the identified situations.
  • Identify potential for cost reduction through extended parts life, reduced labor cost, and other part-related improvement techniques.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Coordinate work with outside engineering firms and contractors.
  • Study corrosion, fatigue, wear, and erosion rates throughout the plant and initiate corrective action as required.
  • The engineer will work with personnel from other departments on reliability problems, causes, and best solutions.
  • Assists with coordination of the site wide Reliability Technician program which includes thickness testing, alloy analysis, failure analysis, lubrication, and vibration analysis.
  • Participates in the Corporate Manufacturing Reliability Council (MRC) which identifies, develops, and shares best practices among all sites.
  • Shares engineering/maintenance best practices with other Nutrien sites.
  • Coordinates the sitewide effort on implementing best practices maintenance practices for Reliability Improvement.
  • Performs Safety Contacts and Safety Audits.



What you will bring:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
  • 2+ years professional experience in Reliability Engineering and Predictive Maintenance Technologies within heavy industry.
