How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Job Description Summary: The Senior Accounting Analyst will support the business objectives based on the Controller organization's scope of responsibility. The major areas of responsibility will include: financial accounting and reporting, including month-end close processes; general ledger account analyses, reconciliation review; preparation and posting of journal entries; research, analyses and reporting; internal reporting requests related to Division, Regional branches and Corporate; fulfilling requests related to internal/external audit and other ad hoc analyses and special projects.

This role will also liaison with the ALABS shared services including; accounts payable, cash applications, central billing, vendor chargebacks, general ledger accounting, and fixed asset functions as defined in the Airgas + ALABS RACI matrix.

  • Month-end procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries including:

  • Perform tasks ensuring accurate financial and statistical close processes, in conjunction with ALABS, including general ledger account reconciliations and other analyses within established timelines.

  • Significant sales accruals, that are not based on a standard report/calculation.

  • Significant COS & OPEX accruals, that are not based on a standard report/calculation.

  • Localized accounting topics including, but not limited to, real estate taxes and personal property taxes.

  • Ad-hoc entries arising from the month end close review process

  • Perform the product costing process including:

  • Calculate, maintain, and update standard gas and hard-goods costs as required.

  • Preparation of daily Moving Average Price (MAP) analysis.

  • Cost of sales account analysis, research and preparation of account reconciliations.

  • Preparation of reports and other information related to internal requests from the Division/branches as well as Corporate.

  • Participates in ongoing enhancements to accounting and reporting processes by leveraging systems and reporting tools to drive those enhancements.

  • Supports and provides direction as well as training to the teams accounting staff.

  • Strong "client service" mindset and work well with internal customers as well as external parties.

  • Ensures compliance with the Company's financial policies/procedures and other matters related to compliance.

  • This position must be able to build effective relationships with all levels of associates within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

  • Minimum of three years financial reporting / financial accounting experience, public accounting experience and exposure to medium-to-large companies a plus.

  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or MBA in Finance/Accounting a plus

  • 4 to 6 years financial reporting / financial accounting experience, public accounting experience and exposure to medium-to-large companies a plus.

  • Advanced experience with SAP software is a plus.
